Relatively new user here, thanks in advance for any guidance, sorry if I'm missing something obvious. My story: I've been heavily using DaVinci Resolve Studio for the past three months with zero issues. Suddenly, on startup, I get the splash screen for a second or so, it gets to "Checking Licenses", then crashes to desktop.
My machine, purchased late 2024:

I have uninstalled all components and reinstalled, rebooted, same results. I have a log capture zip file, but the forum won't allow an upload--it's 1.4 MB, forum cap is 1 mb.

Give the FAQ a good read. It goes over some troubleshooting steps, as well as what information to post if those fail.

I’m getting this issue on iPad pro

Version 20.0000049

Opening my project it and force closes.
I was using magic masking
Polygon tools
And compound clips trying to achieve desired fx in fusion page.

Now I can not open that project but I can open others.

I am using an iPad Pro 2024 M4 With Magic Keyboard and bought it specifically for DaVinci resolve, I was prompted with an upgrade option so I upgraded to 20.

Please help as I am missing deadlines and this is my current work flow which is being hindered by this issue.

@Clay: The Topaz OFX plugin is crashing Resolve.

A quick solution:

In File Explorer, go to this folder:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX

In the OFX folder is a folder called Plugins

Rename the Plugins folder to Plugins.orig

Now Resolve should start. But this will prevent any 3rd party OFX plugins from loading.

In the Plugins folder will be folder for each OFX package you've installed. Move those out of the Plugins folder one at a time, to figure out which is causing the issue with Resolve.

Of course, change Plugins.orig back to Plugins when you do that.

Need a Resolve diagnostics log. Do a long press on the Project Manager icon (the house in the lower right) to generate the log file.

Also need a project export .drp. Open the Project Manager, right click the project and select Export Project.

Cannot access project manager icon without project shutting down. I have managed to get dr p file.

How do I attaché the drop as I states extension not allowed.

Issue : project is force closing on launch.

- Tool s that were being used / magic mask
- split timelines to messing with nodes
- compound clips

These were the tools I was experimenting with

Resolution 3140 x 2160 - 3 timelines

I’m hoping there is a way to salvage my project even if removing the timeline 2 & 3 is an option.


Is this normal behaviour? I was told that the M4 iPad Pro would be sufficicient which is why I copped the paid version.

It appears that the Fusion comp Magic Mask is causing the iPad crash.

Since the Fusion page is not accessible/supported on iPad, that may be expected behavior.

I did try making an HD version of the project, to see if the project being at UHD resolution was an issue, but that didn't help. It just didn't like the Fusion comp with the Magic Mask.

I've attached a version with the Fusion comp reset, if that is of any interest to you.

What does that mean? I can open it but you have removed the component clips and mask?

So if fusion isn’t for iPad what is the point purchasing the application? So confusing.

When you open Resolve on iPad, you might notice that only the Cut and Color pages are available. The functions on those pages are supported on iPad. When support for further functionality is available, those page will be exposed.

When you say the file isn't publicly available, are you saying that you can't download the attachment in my post?

I can download it just fine.
That said, there's a hack to get to the Fusion page on iPad. But since it's not officially supported, you should expect issues.
As impressive as its power may be, I would not suggest an iPad to do all the work, rather as a device to work in the field on some rough cut or some first-light color corrections. Get a 'real' computer for you home or office.

I just get a safari link which does not downloaded anything just a safari link
