Hyperdeck Studio Mini file

PostSun May 18, 2025 4:12 pm

I was given a file from a Hyperdeck Studio Mini when I shot a show yesterday. The theatre recording full stage, nice touch as I only had to provide an SD card. 1920x1080 interlaced upper field first. Not sure why they had it set this way. But in an interlaced or progressive 59.94 project on my Studio Max plays at about 14fps. On my PC plays at 58 fps not quite realtime. Clearly GPU power difference. But will play fine on Mac or PC when I just click play. So player on my Mac and VLC on PC as default players. EDIUS plays it just fine, Vegas will not play at all. I do not need this file as I have three cameras that shot the show just fine. This is just out of interest that Resolve does not play interlace media well at all on Mac or PC from their own hardware product. Yes I did check that interlace processing was enabled. Is there something else I should have checked?

There are different levels of de-interlacing in DR. Neural is the best, but pretty demanding.

Yes that was it. Changed to high and it plays fine. Still not sure why they set to interlaced unless they have it set to give to broadcasters as a backup to the main camera when they shoot a segment in the theatre for news.

Sure it's interlaced or just PsF?

Yes Mediainfo reports interlaced 29.97, separate fields, top field first. Resolve recognized as 59.94 fields/sec. As far I can see that is one of the settings for Hyperdeck. Still wonder why Vegas will not decode as it is h264 8bit interlaced. EDIUS has no problems and in the past Vegas and EDIUS handle interlace well.

File is useful for me as it has the stage mics directly so I will use some of the audio for the dialogue. My GH6 5.7K is of course a better image than whatever camera they are using. I assume a 1920x1080 camera that its main job is to feed the Green room.
