DaVinci Resolve 20 – Voice Over

Sorry, I posted it in the wrong forum.

Dear DaVinci Resolve Team,
First of all, thank you for introducing the new Voice Over Tool in DaVinci Resolve Studio 20. It is intuitive, easy to use, and a valuable addition to the software.
To make it even more effective in professional workflows, I would like to suggest two enhancements:
1. Customizable Countdown:
Currently, the tool allows a fixed three-second countdown before recording begins. It would be beneficial to allow users to set this countdown duration freely, depending on their specific needs.
2. Pre-Roll Functionality:
At the moment, the recording starts immediately after the countdown. However, for voice-over artists, it would be extremely helpful if the system included a true pre-roll – meaning the timeline rewinds by a defined duration, plays back from that point, and then begins recording. This provides context and helps achieve a smoother and more precise delivery.
While it might seem like starting the recording earlier could be a workaround, this approach doesn’t work well in scenarios where a new voice-over needs to be seamlessly attached to an existing audio track.
I believe these enhancements would significantly improve the usability and flexibility of the Voice Over Tool in professional environments. What do you think – could such features be considered for a future update?
Best regards,
Nico Sandhof
