Beta 4 audio problem on Win11 PC.
Tested out beta 4 and it fixed some issues I had with beta 3 for instance, AI audio editor not working and a delay for sound coming out when play is pressed.
A new audio issue I found is when making a cut on a clip in the Edit page.
The first half of the cut clip and clips previous would lose sound when played. The second half of the cut clip will play normally as well as the clips that follow. The clip is still on time line with waveform showing.
Strangely, when you go to fairlight page, all the clips that don't play sound has disappeared from the timeline.
A workaround I found for clip not playing sound is to make a cut on it, delete the 1st half using backspace not del to retain the space, drag out the 2nd half to fill out deleted portion and sound is again played. The clip will now show again in the fairlight page.

If resolve is restarted, sound is restored in edit page and will also reappear in fairlight.

The clips being edited are BRAW files.

UPDATE:

BETA 4 has been updated. So there's a NEW Beta 4.
Thanks to the team at
Blackmagic Design as they expedited the fix to the audio muting issues I reported. They reached out asking for the drt and drp files to see the issue and immediately saw the problem.
NOTE for those that downloaded the Beta 4 ver .47 couple of days ago that in the BM support page its still the same "BETA 4" name but its a new version number ver .48 once you check the exe file properties. (See attached image)
This addressed the issue of audio playing with no sound after making cuts to the clip and vanishing from the timeline in the Fairlight page.
There might be other fixes that they did.
Not sure if other issues were addressed.

I'm also experiencing this with the audio. Once I make 1 cut on the edit page then no audio will play. If I then jump over to the Fairlight page all the audio tracks are missing even though they are there on the edit page.

I have just installed beta 4 in studio and am getting the exact same issue with the audio. Before installing the beta update everything was fine

I'm not seeing this with my own BRAW clips.

Studio 20.0b4 in Windows.

Yes, if I can reinstall Beta 3

I uninstalled Beta 4 and reinstalled Beta 3 and everything works again!

The problem with Beta 3 is the AI music editor to retime and change duration of music seems broken.

Behavior is when you click live trim drag the edge of the music clip to either shorten or lengthen, the clip will show the zigzag lines indicating where it made edits but waveform and actual sound does not create a new smooth ending but merely cuts off abruptly.

Also on Beta 3 I notice when editing and making cuts there is a slight delay before sound starts playing making it difficult to make precise edits and cuts based on sound.
This is not the case with beta 1 and i think beta 2. I've rolled back to beta 1 for now.

Same issue here. No problem with sound or video when played before cutting on edit page. Cutting any part of the video causes audio silence. When I export or deliver project, no audio. If I close the program then open the project and start playing, I have audio again. I have to keep doing this eveytime I make a cut to the project. Audio is not muted. Tried to mute then unmute, no resolution.

Follow up: When adding the Voice-Over-WAV from our NAS to the timeline and start editing immediately Audio disappears as Ted initially described.
When I however add the WAV-Audio to the timeline and wait for at least half an hour not doing nothing, the effect disappears and I can edit as usually.

Glad you found the problem on the files I sent.

I installed beta 4 today and I'm having the same problem. The clips and their audio waveform appear on the edit page but not in Fairlight. One way to fix this is to add an audio clip long enough to overwrite the missing clips and undo the action. This way, they become audible again and appear in Fairlight. I hope it can be fixed soon.

I have intense problems with sound clips too now. They are getting muted suddenly mid working in Beta 4. First my "audio only" files were gone. After a Restart I have problems with Videoclip Sounds too. I guess I need to go back to Beta 3.

I can copy the clips into a fresh timeline and keep working for some minutes, but then they get muted again. I can still see them and move them in all windows.
CORRECTION: Some Clips are indeed missing in the Fairlight page. Most are visible but not all
But they create no sound in Resolve and there is no movement in the Mixer graph. Sometimes they come back and then go mute again.


As a side note on a somewhat similar Problem
Having missing sound in some Music Clips inside the Timeline was a rare thing to me that happened in past versions and seemed to had its root in timecode issues (the start TC of Music got delivered in very rare cases with strange negative Timecode values like -5435044:00:00:00 according to Resolve. It would play in the VIEWER Window, but not when dropped in the timeline. But Transcoding the File in an external Program would fix it and reset the TC to something normal. (I could supply BM with such file if of interest)

I can now confirm the same issue with a surefire way to trigger it.

If I double click on a clip in the Media Pool and select a portion within it and then drag the footage onto the timeline, the entire timeline becomes muted with the exception of the audio track that has the dragged footage in it.

So if I drop the footage onto track 3, only track 3 will play audio. Dragging and dropping the audio into different layers will partially restore some of the audio above, below or next to the clip but all other sounds will remain silent. This only happens in Beta 4.

Currently Beta 4 version of Resolve is completely unusable for me due to this issue.

This issue ^^ and random slow downs and freezes when crossfading audio clips in the Edit page. I think Beta 4 broke audio.

BM got hold already of the drt and drp file I sent them showing the 'no sound and vanishing clips' issue and are working on this.
And yes I can also confirm your issue with sound clips not playing with strange random timecodes.
There will be another update soon.

I found another solution to this (hopefully temporary) problem. I simply locked the audio track or audio clip.

The thing is, the issue is happening during editing and while making cuts to the clip on the track.

Got this problem two times too.
I closed and opened Resolve again and it worked.

It's sporadic

I have also found that if you have the speed editor and use the ripple delete key you can edit the audio without any issue (weird).

A request to manually check for updates and install the refreshed beta 4 version.

I'm not sure if the mac version has the same issues but I learned that there is also a new similar update for those on mac with "build 48" in the 'about' box.
