I can’t for the life of me figure out how to import BRAW stills shot on the URSA Cine into Resolve. The video files import fine, but if I drag the BRAW files from the ‘stills’ folder into the media storage window, nothing happens. If I navigate to the folder where the BRAW stills are located in the media storage viewer, the folder appears empty. Am I missing something obvious?

I asked Grok, and it suggested making sure the frame display mode is set to individual, which it is. Still no luck importing.

Usually if the files don't show up in Media Storage, it's because those files aren't supported in Resolve.

I've seen this with BRAW if the camera has a newer version than Resolve. What version of Resolve are you using?

I have the latest V20 beta 4. Camera has the latest firmware I believe.

In that case it could be a bug. Are you able to share one?

I guess it's possible it could be a beta bug, but maybe it's a camera bug. Or maybe it's resolve in general that doesn't support the ursa cine 12k yet. Or maybe I'm just missing the correct method to make this work. Anyway, here is a braw if you're curious.

Doesn't work for me either using 20.0b4 for Windows.

Check the camera's firmware maybe, and shoot a couple more for testing.

Over the past week, I’ve captured four different stills while testing the camera at various times. In every case, the stills fail to import into DaVinci Resolve. I am running the latest firmware, which was released in mid-May.

I was genuinely looking forward to trying out the stills feature. The idea of shooting 12K stills and running them through my usual color grading workflow seemed like a fun way to integrate photos into a project without having to use Lightroom.

They don't open in the stand alone BRAW Player, either.

Weird.

Okay well at least I'm not crazy then. It also doesn't work for me in BRAW player. Just seems strange that Black Magic doesn't support their own camera's still images in Resolve.

It doesn't work in Resolve 20 Beta 4 or in Blackmagic Raw Player 4.5

I'm on Windows. It won't even import.

This is a Braw file. A normal generated from Resolve doesn't do this. This is a Bug.

I took some BRAW footage I shot last week and generated a BRAW still and it imports just fine. There is something wrong.

I would download the newest firmware and try to update the camera. It should be Blackmagic Blackmagic Camera 9.5.3. https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/support/

There's the crux of the question. Is it a bug in Resolve, or in the camera's firmware?

I downloaded some Cine 17k BRAW footage and it opened in Resolve just fine. Exported a Braw still and reimported it and it opened just fine. My guess is that it is a camera bug.

The camera is on 9.5.3. I plugged the camera in last week, and it downloaded 9.5.3. I then generated a new still and same problem. I guess I should report a bug.

Try Resolve 20.0.0. See if the new release works.

I tried it earlier today and it unfortunately does not fix the issue.

Just an update: I emailed Blackmagic about this, and after some back and forth, they have submitted it as a bug to the development team. It should hopefully be resolved in a future DaVinci Resolve update or a camera firmware update.
