Which version of Fusion is Resolve 19.1 using?

Hey, guys.

I know Resolve 20 is in beta and I don't want to make assumptions. I just upgraded to Resolve 19.1 Studio, and found the Resolve manual light on details in terms of the Fusion nodes. I next looked for the Fusion manual and found versions 18 and 19. I'm not sure if that lines up with the Resolve version or not, since I didn't see anything for 20.

Could someone please tell me which Fusion manual is relevant for the Fusion page of Resolve?

Also, I find the Fusion integration to be really far along in 19. Can anyone speak to the delta between the full Fusion version and the Resolve Fusion tab, or point me to the appropriate documentation? I'm not sure if I even need to install the full Fusion at this point.

Thanks!

I downloaded and installed the standalone version of Fusion at one point to play around with it, but ended up just going back to using it within Resolve because I couldn't see any real advantage to it. There may be some edge cases where the standalone version uses somewhat less system resources and that may be a make-or-break difference for some projects that do a lot of heavy lifting, but it hasn't really been an issue for me.

My take is that the stand-alone version of Fusion is a lot more similar to Resolve's built-in version than different. The biggest obvious difference lies in the source and target of clips, in that you have to specifically load and save them in the standalone version whereas they are normally automatically pulled from and delivered to the timeline in the integrated version.

So far what I've seen since version 16 is that each new release of Resolve also delivers a new release of the standalone Fusion with the same version number. The integrated and standalone versions appear to me to be essentially identical.

I have to say that there are many depths to Fusion that I haven't plumbed, particularly in the areas of 3D and automation, so there may well be differences between the integrated and standalone versions of which I am unaware.

Hey, Sean.

Thanks very much for the info. I thought it likely that the versions would line up, but since Fusion and Resolve have different histories I wasn't sure.

I seem to recall years ago trying to find BM documentation on what, specifically, was in the full Fusion that wasn't in the integration but was unsuccessful.

In any event, they've done a very nice job with the Fusion tab.
