Free Version compatible export pleeeese!

Can some nice person export a Free Version Compatible version of this project Ive been working on? :D
I had an NVMe drive fail and when I restarted my Mac the project wouldnt open. Resolve kept telling me I need to upgrade. Im worried if I do upgrade it still wont open because the database file is corrupt. I think an xml file will be good so it strips any Studio filters or effects I may have accidently used - out.

Im using DR 19.1.3 Build 7

Thanks in advance.

You can open other projects? (Or create new ones?)

The only gotcha with free verse paid should be timeline resolution.

If you used a paid effect like NR, it will give you a watermark in free and you can turn off the effect and continue on.

The problem is if you choose a timeline resolution (or fps) in paid that is not available in free. That project will simply refuse to open in free.

Not sure if SuperScale does the watermark or later route.

Now if you have actually had the database corrupted. The above is all irrelevant. Hopefully someone on 19.1.3 will see this and can try your file.

Yes Jim,
Other projects open fine and I can can create new ones as well. I was working with a 4k timeline @24fps so it wasnt over the free capability. I remember playing around with some filters that showed as a watermark (for Studio only) so thats thats why I thought is wasn't opening. After the NVMe drive failed the project was still open just no links to files working so I rebuilt the project from backed up .mov and .heic files because the auto saves werent opening either. If you or someone can just try opening the file and let me know if the timeline is intact that would be great!

I could open your project with 19.1.4
There were 2 3D clips in your MediaPool.
I split them.
Maybe you can open it now.

Edit: This project won't work in the free version.
See Dwain's comment.

You have the same scenario at this user:

viewtopic.php?f=21&t=217572#p1149372

Again, this could only possibly happen with the project loaded in Resolve Studio, because free Resolve will not allow you to add a Spatial Video clip to the Media Pool.

In your case, clip 1123 is a Spatial Video clip. And adding that clip to the timeline automatically made the timeline a stereo 3d timeline, which free Resolve cannot open.

That clip is located here: /Volumes/1TB_NVME/DaVinci-Files/Cruise Baltic 2024/IMG_5078.MOV

What I've done in your project is removed that clip from the Media Pool, made a copy of your Timeline 1, called Timeline 2, then removed Timeline 1.

Actually, doing the above set me back a few hours. I also had to actually remove that clip from the V2 timeline. Just removing it from the Media Pool was not adequate. I'd have had this to you much sooner except for that.

I then attempted to verify the new project loads in free 19.1.3. It didn't. Because the clip was still in the V2 track. Removing it from both the Media Pool and the V2 track, along with changing the timeline from stereo to non-stereo allows it to load in free.

Hopefully you can replace the missing file with something other than a Spatial Video file.

@Christoph: Definitely on the right track. That stereo clip is what caused the issue. But the timeline itself was also stereo, which I assume you didn't fix in your project. I haven't loaded it in Studio to verify. But your project did not load in the free version.

You are right Dwaine, I didn't fix that.
I didn't know there was an internal distinction of 3D timelines.

I must amend my comments above. While I was pretty sure I had tested that free users were not able to add a spatial video clip to a project, that is incorrect. It IS possible to add spatial video clips into the project in the free version. And the instant that happens, the timeline is converted to stereo. I'm sort of surprised things continue working at all at that point.

So my apologies for accusing both these users of doing something in Studio to cause this. Not the case.

As an aside, this issue has been addressed in v20. So it won't be an issue going forward.

But v19 free users should not add spatial video clips to a project.

Many thanks Dwaine for spending your time looking into this, unfortunately I could not open this file either.
I even uninstalled 19 and installed 20. There must still be a reference to FX triggering the prompt for upgrade. I just dont understand if you were able to load it in a free version, why I cant? I'm thinking it more likely be an FX issue like other users have mentioned having problems reopening after trying.
Again, Thankyou for taking the time to look at this and for the great support you provide for such a fantastic editing program.

Thanks for looking into this Christoph, unfortunately I was unable to access the download, I was just given a prompt to upload only.

That would probably be because I made multiple project exports during my testing, and sent you a link to the wrong file.

This version should work:

This is awesome!! Thankyou so much Dwaine, I cannot recommend you and your company highly enough.
Your professionalism and response is outstanding! Thanks for spending the time to work through this.
It makes me confident to know that when I purchase Studio there will be a lifesaver if something goes wrong,
unlike Adobe and Final Cut.
cheers and thanks from Down Under!
