Camera movement choppy...

PostTue May 27, 2025 3:54 pm

I usually use Cyberlink PowerDirector when putting my work together from Blender (now using 4.4.3). Yet that program can take hours even on the best PC to import files or add to timeline, so I searched & found DaVinci Resolve.

I make 3D animated shows, full shows. Yesterday I took one of my shows that I already had put together using PowerDirector into DaVinci Resolve 19 to see how it works. In a few moments my files were imported, same to the timeline, I am so impressed (around 6200 frames). I set Frame to 1in Preferences and the project to 3840 x 2160 & 60 FPS like my frames were rendered in Blender.

Resolve put the video together fine & at the beginning of that video the camera scrolls forward to show the scenery until it gets to the characters in the scene. It was smooth per normal, beautiful even. I woke up today & needed to test a scene I'd been rendering in Blender to make sure the lighting is ok, 1128 frames (0-1127).

I did everything the same as I had last night, yet this time, in this newer scene, when the camera moves forward, it's choppy in Resolve. Not good at all, then when the camera stops at the characters it's fine again. I tried a few times without change, is Resolve failing me already?

To test this, I brought the same frames into PowerDirector & had it put them together, the camera moves forward nice & smooth when PowerDirector produces it. Why is Resolve suddenly treating the camera movement choppy?

I went to ChatGPT, which had me do LOADS of tests (renamed all files and much more which I didn't have to do with the scene from yesterday), none helped this choppy camera movement. I'm using the free version to test DaVinci Resolve 19 (see I want to buy it), yet if it works with one scene, then not the next, it's no good to me. Can anyone help me with this situation? I'd be very grateful. I tried to attach the choppy camera version, even a small video, yet it wouldn't allow me in this post.

It's so odd to me because I did everything the same with the other scene yesterday, almost exact camera movement & Resolve didn't have any choppy camera in that export. Then the fact that PowerDirector produces it smoothly also throws me off. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I can't think of anything to help without seeing the issue.

Upload a video YouTube or a file sharing site. If you put a space in the path, e.g. my. dropbox.com then the forum will not see this as a link.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
