DaVinci Resolve 20 won't boot up

PostWed May 28, 2025 11:35 am

I deleted my CacheClip folder where my render cache was outputting to. Upon attempting to restart DaVinci, it no longer boots up. I notice in task manager that the application "resolve.exe" attempts to boot but then it enters a suspended state and then exits entirely from the services tab.

I've uninstalled the app and re-installed, updated graphics drivers but no luck.

My Resolve capture log & system NFO is linked if anyone is able to take a look?

The situation is a little different, but when I was unable to start the other day, the following solved the problem.
I hope this will be helpful.

1. uninstall all apps related to DaVinci Resolve from the installed apps.

2. from Windows Explorer, move the “Preferences” folder located in the following directory to the desktop.

C:\UserName}\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Preferences

The AppData item above is not displayed in the normal settings, so you must select “Hidden Files” from “View” at the top of the dialog in Windows Explorer.

3. Install the latest version of DaVinci Resolve Studio 20

* The configuration file will be initialized, so when you start DaVinci Resolve, it will begin with a welcome tour.

* If there are multiple local project libraries, the connection will be temporarily lost.

After checking the operation and closing DaVinci Resolve when the problem is resolved,
Delete dblist.conf in the new Preferences folder, and dblist.conf in the old Preferences folder moved to the desktop,
If you move the dblist.conf from the old Preferences folder to the desktop to the new Preferences folder, it will be reconnected at the next startup.

Return to DaVinci Resolve
