Is there any reason not to update 19→20?

I'm fairly new (about 6 weeks) to DR and video editing in general. Is there any reason why I should not update my v19.1.4 to v20? I have the Studio version.

If you rely heavily on Resolve 19's inline clip keyframing method, or moreover, if you need to be able to see the keyframe timing of multiple clips simultaneously, you might find Resolve 20's redefined keyframe UI not to your liking in its present iteration. In that case you may choose to wait a while and see what the next point releases bring first.

If you are a professional user, especially one who is mid project and you, your team and your clients need to be ably to rely absolutely on the feature set and stability you are already enjoying with your current version of Resolve, you would be advised to wait until theres a clear break in your schedule before testing your usual workflows with the new version, thoroughly, before committing to it... you'd also be advised to back up just as throughly, including cloning your current system before embarking on the process, in case you need to revert.

I expect most people who make money with resolve will wait a few months before updating.

Ultimately, if the version you are on today is not holding you back. Or V20 doesn't have any features that will make you more money, there is no reason to risk change.

Nope - not yet at least. I'm still learning it.

Sounds good to me. Thank you both for your input! I guess I'll just stick with 19.1.4 until the "stable" v20 becomes more stable after a bit of real world testing by the professionals.

Thanks, Andy.

Now I need to *find* “Resolve 20's redefined keyframe UI,” without a manual.

Per this post

it certainly is not the inline clip keyframing method I’m used to.

If You :
1. Have A 4K Monitor
2. Can Use DRS v19 @ UI Display Scale = 100%
3. Are OK With 20 Reported Bugs (In My Signature Section)

Then You're Ready To Upgrade.

Thanks, Phil.

Yes, Keyframe and Curve editing is covered in the DR 20 New Features Guide, though BM doesn’t actually say that any keyframe editing beyond setting them in the Inspector panel (such as in or below the timeline) is now missing for iPad users :(
