I can't open the keyframe tray in DaVinci Resolve 20.

So I know about the button on the far left side of the panel separating the viewers from the timeline in DaVinci Resolve 20. I'm talking about that second button which, if clicked, is supposed to open up the Keyframe Tray in the timeline below.

But on my installation of Resolve 20, that button is greyed out, and consequently, unavailable. so I can't open the Keyframe Tray in the timeline, which I needd to be able to do.

Is there some setting I need to activate somewhere making this option available?

HELP!

Tray not available when you have stacked timelines enabled.

Maybe there is a technical challenge to updating the keyframe tray when more than one timeline is potentially in context but I do hope this can be addressed. Would you want a keyframe tray per timeline in the stacked timeline mode?

In addition there is no curve mode.

True, and that appears to be by design but I'm not sure why - it would be very nice to have a curve mode in the tray as well. There are many threads in this forum asking for improvements to the keyframe panel and tray. We've hit on two here but other improvements include things like being able to see keyframes from all selected clips instead of just one clip at a time. The list of requests is substantial..

Yeah why didn't we leave the old functionality? It wasn't so bad, but in this case its complemented the new one

The new functionality in R20 is due to many user requests to change it. Many users hated the old keyframe method and now many users hate the new method. You can't please everybody! Hopefully they will improve the useability in future.

Keyframe tray needs to be compatible with stacked timelines, indeed.. I don't see why we couldn't have a tray per timeline.. Hopefully they fix this very soon

And the worst part of all is that when we complain about a point (and rightly so) there are people who come here just to complain as if everything were fine! It's not. The keyframes there in the ruler below are an important thing for editing quickly, but they have been keeping those who want to use them up at night and they don't work when we need them.

I get it, things change and new features get added, even features that are widely requested, but what I don't understand, if you're going to remove a feature that a lot of people use (I happen to use it quite heavily), why wouldn't you at least for a version or two somehow run the two features in parallel letting users know that in the next version the old method is going to be removed so that they can get used to the new method while still able to use the old? Right now, unless I uninstall 20 and go back to 19, I'm stuck having to get used to this with no alternative...

I get it, you can't make everyone happy and I know, get over it, but it just seems a little harsh without giving users a little bit more of a transition period to get used to it while having the old still available...

Having needed to use the old one (19.1.4) to ease some animations recently, I can honestly say the old one in absolutely awful. I had several instances the key frame editor would not open when I clicked the button, sometimes the key frames could not be selected if they were on the edge of the clip, the curves were outside if the visible area, adding ease did almost nothing visible and had to be edited by hand in a window too small to really see what you are doing. The only reason I used it is because I could not get Fusion to work with timeline audio if I offset any of the video I had brought into fusion. The audio track from the timeline would follow the clips making it impossible to line up animation to it.

They really, really really need to do a QOL update for the next version adding things in like the ability to export all of your effects presets, a button to open up the transcription window, Default settings for safe area guides, proper transparency for fusion nodes, A proper work area size for fusion so my project doesn't explode if I replace a video or image with something of a different resolution, updated and improved delivery page for those of us that tend to have numerous versions of a project that need to be exported, A way to save a screen shot of your current frame, set stacked timelines as the default so I don't have to open it every damn time I create a new project, a setting to remember that I want that damn auto scrolling OFF in the curve editor and keframe editors in Fusion, A proper render cache (render in range, selected clip, etc.) that doesn't cause crashes, etc.

Hello, I have found where the keyframes are now located, and I think it's more comfortable to manipulate them in the Keyframes window than in the Keyframes tray. :D Image
