Hi everyone, a friend recently gave me his old dongle.
He bought a Davinci Resolve Micro Panel and no longer needs it.
He gave me the dongle and SD card with the program.
I install Davinci Resolve Studio from the SD card and have no issues with the license. (Davinci Resolve 15)

When I try to update the program to a newer version, it doesn't recognize the dongle and asks for the activation key.

I've tried on three different computers, including Linux, and always with the same result.
I don't know what to do.

The only time I've ever seen this is with counterfeit dongles. BMD is continually adding to a "block list".

Are you saying that your friend received the dongle with the purchase of the micro panel? Are you certain because Jim’s explanation is my first thought as well.

What version did you try to upgrade to and maybe tell us about your system and OS first future reference.

With Resolve 15 installed, generate a Resolve diagnostics log from the Resolve Help menu, put that file on a file sharing site and provide a link to the file here.

I didn't know how to explain, sorry

He bought a micro panel, and it came with an activation code. He no longer needed his old dongle.
He had purchased that dongle from an authorized dealer in Mexico.

Im using windows 11 btw

Unfortunately, that's a counterfeit dongle, and it was blacklisted in Resolve 15.2.3. So it will not work in that version or any newer versions.

A bunch of these were sold on Ebay back in the day.
