I need urgent help, issue with previews in all pages

Hi, I cannot see any of my footage for some of my projects, the preview simply is solid black, or in the case of one vertical project, there is a thin line on the side that seems to still be working... It seems to be some kind of rendering issue of the previews. Files attached for diagnostics.

I have tried creating a new project and import footage and that works fine, and I've also tried opening a recent project that hasn't got complex yet, and that also works.

This happens because I have updated the AMD radeon drivers but I need to update them for other software now, so I cannot avoid it. What to do?

Do I, like, not get any help at all here? Isn't even there any Resolve representative or support that can help me?

I am not the one to ask, but doing a quick grep through your log file, I see lots and lots of errors like:

Questions:
What version of Resolve? Free or Studio?

What are your video formats? (the video stream inside the .mfx or .mov files) A utility like Mediainfo is useful for this.

So new projects work. What happens when you export a faulty timeline and import it into a new - working - project?

RivaTuner breaks Resolve support of AMD GPUs.

Please remove RivaTuner, and hopefully your issue will go away.

Hi, I just uninstalled RivaTuner (didn't even know why I had this, I don't know what it does)
Unfortunately, after restarting the machine, the problem persists.
Should I try to reinstall Resolve or the GPU driver or both?
Or is there some other program on my computer that might create this issue in the same way?

You still have an old AMD GPU driver. Please update to the current RX7900XT driver from the AMD Downloads site, and hopefully that helps.

I don't get it, whare do you see this? I have the latest driver, it says up to date and I just checked, the version 25.6.1 is the latest according to AMD's website...
Is there a different type or line of driver that I'm not aware of?

Hi,
One quick update: I tried opening one project that I hadn't come back to recently, and for some reason, this one "works". It's not smooth like it used to be, the program hangs a lot, but the previews aren't black. I will upload logs from this particular project in the gofile folder

I don't know where I got that AMD version from. All of your logs show 25.6.1 as you mention.

Try this:

Exit Resolve.

In File Explorer, navigate to this folder:

C:\Users\Loris\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\DVIP\Cache

Then rename the OpenCL.cache file to OpenCL.cache.tmp

Now launch Resolve and load a project. The Viewer WILL be black until that cache file is regenerated, which may take a bit.

Does this do anything good?

Hi,

Following someone else's advice yesterday, I have completely deleted (renamed) the whole blackmagic design folder in appdata, uninstalled the program, and reinstalled it fresh. That did nothing. I think it may recoup with what you ere telling me to do?

If you renamed the appdata folder, that should have made the original OpenCL.cache file go away.

If you want to do a complete clean install process, you should also rename the C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve folder as well as the appdata DaVinci Resolve folder.

There's nothing obviously wrong in the logs or NFO.

What is the current status of things? Are new projects working and you only have issues with existing projects?

Most projects don't work, new projects seem to work at first but they end up not working after a few edits. There is one old project that works but not as smoothly as before, the viewer shows stuff but the playhead keeps hanging

Just to see if it's an issue related to file decoding, go into Resolve Preferences - System - Decode Options and uncheck the "Decode H.264/H.265 using hardware acceleration" option. Then save the prefs and restart Resolve. Does that have any effect?

If that has no effect, on a project that has the issue, put a color bar generator on the timeline on the Edit page, then make that generator a compound clip. Does it work, or is it also not displaying properly?
