Missing Timelines, Media after Upgrade

PostThu Jun 12, 2025 3:02 pm

Hey folks,

I'm on Resolve 9.1.4. I'm finding that when trying to open older projects (some as recent as January), I'm being asked to upgrade the project, since it was created with an earlier version of Resolve. Afterwards, I'm finding that things are missing.

In one case, a project most recently updated in August of last year (presumably version 18), everything is missing from the project except for bins, which are themselves empty.

In another case, a project most recently updated in January 2025 (I'm pretty sure an earlier version of 19), I was forced to upgrade the project, and afterwards the media is still there, but timelines are missing.

In both cases, I don't have a fully up to date .drp export (my bad). But still, this experience is eroding my confidence in project stability over time.

I do have Time Machine backups of the Project.db files, but after restoring them, and doing the upgrade again, same issue. I tried browsing the database backup files with DB Browser for SQLite, but can't make heads or tails of the contents to see if my timelines are in there or not.

I have a ticket open with BlackMagic, but they so far haven't been able to help.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Bill
