Cache & Gallery PERMISSION

Good Morning,
I exported a Davinci project to another computer, and now when I try to open the project on the new computer I see these two messages:

"GALLERY PERMISSION. Unable to write DaVinci is selected gallery /Users/l....../.gallery path as it does not have any write permissions Please Ensure That DaVinci Resolve has write permission for the selected path and the gallery first drive you list in preferences "

"CACHE PERMISSION. DaVinci Resolve is Unable to write cache path /Users/l....../.gallery selected as it does not have any write permissions Please Ensure That DaVinci Resolve has write permission for the selected path and the cache first drive you list in preferences "

Davinci does not allow me to access any document on my computer. I read forum topics about the same error, but it does not work any solution.

I am the computer administrator, and am also Davinci system administrator.

The characteristics of my computer are:
MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) 2.4GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 256MB.

Do you know how I could fix it?
Thank you very much, sorry for my bad English.

Lucas.

Hi, have you selected a scratch drive in the preferences?
If on the App Store version and on Yosemite, please go to the BMD support page and download the latest version of Lite and install.

I have a similar isue after Yosemite update in DaVinci Resole Lite 11.
I've been trying to solve this for days but no luck.
I've tried everything. The only disk that's working is my boot/root disk (Macindosh HD). Every other drive that i tried doesn't work. I've reinstalled the program from scratch, no luck.
In Yosemite in disk utility you cannot run a permission check/repair. Only your root drive. Even in recovery disk mode. I gave permissions (through sharing permissions) read&write to everyone, nothing happened.

I use a Mac Pro 2009, 8core, 32GBram, GTX680 Mac Edition.
Running OS X Yosemite v.10.10 and DaVinci Resole Lite 11.

I had no problems when i used it with Mavericks.

Yupp. Showing the exact same thing as described above. Extremely infuriating, making Resolve completely unusable for me with my current disk situation/setup.

I for one don't even get what the utterly nonsensical disk management is even all about and WHY one wouldn't just simply use the normal, everyday file management built into the OS??!! I see ZERO advantages to doing it this way and nothing but annoying and completely unnecessary usability issues... as you can see!

Most definitely the absolute TOP of my list of "features" that need to be done away with ASAP.

Are you sure you are not using the Apple App Store version of Resolve Lite?

Hi Andie, there are many reasons for the flexibility in Resolves disk and file management and with more use or reference to the manual they will become more apparent. The issue referred to above seems to be related to the App Store version on Yosemite and we have reported it to Apple. The user above your post said it was ok on Mavericks so clearly no a Resolve issue.

If you use Resolve Lite from our web support site and select your main scratch disk in preferences at first start as recommended you should not see this issue. If you do, please let us know here or via your local BMD support office. They will need details of your system config, OS, Resolve version etc.

You are right, I'm using the App Store version. Can you please tell me where I can find the site version?
(I'm on mobile right now and I can't find it).

Thank you

[i]Edit: OK, found it. Works fine now. Thank you again[i]

Sorry, In Maverick I have the same problem. Resolve 11.1.1 Lite from support page. No rendering with source filenames (export to FCP preset) , R/W permission error etc.

I have the same problem... I have the App store version, but downloaded the 11.1.1 update from the support page.. I'm in the middle of a project. What am I doing wrong? And why is there no App Store update?

Ps: isn't there any way to simply change the permission?

Nevermind. I reinstalled the entire thing with the update and now it works fine. Placed my projects back into the ''resolve projects'' folder.

- Last night after the update I kept clicking on the application on my dock. But today when I looked in my applications folder I saw 2 different Davinci resolve applications. Perhaps I clicked on the wrong one after the update. I notice this when I had everything ready for the reinstall so I didn't check but if you have a similar issue and if it still doesn't work after your update then i'd suggest you first check your applications folder and if there's a second application you try that one.

I am also having cache and gallery writing permission problems.

I downloaded Resolve Lite from the BMD site
I am NOT using my startup drive as a scratch disk
I cannot set my scratch disk to any drive, as it does not seem to see them.

This began after upgrading to Yosemite.

I am on a Mac Pro mid 2010 and ATI Radeon HD 5870 video card.

Thanks for your help,

Roland

I'm having a slightly different permission issue. Resolve 11 Lite was working fine until I attempted to open a project I started a few days ago. I'm getting the same error except it's referencing a drive that is not on my computer. I have not made any changes to the computer's setup or drive names and letters. Interestingly, AVID Media Composer is having the same problem but with linking to clips I imported as linked clips. Something has changed. I just don't know what.
