Possible for DR to Read TC as Audio for Sync?

With the Tentacle Sync:

Emerging as a very promising option, especially for BMCC RAW shooters, would it be possible for Resolve to be able to use "automatically sync using time code" using A/V files that record TC as audio?

This would be such a brilliant workflow solution for dual system and BMC shooters shooting raw.

Thanks in advance!

Resolve already does this. Just right click a clip in the media pool and select 'Update Timecode from Audio - LTC'. I do it all the time, works perfectly.

Just tried it, but doesn't work for me.
Here it only works when the audio files come from a recorder, that generates it's own timecode.

Can you tell me about the exact steps and the gear involved?

Thanks, Frank

If you record LTC timecode into one of the audio channels on your camera, this command will allow you to replace the current timecode in the clip with the timecode that was recorded in the audio track.

I've done it with most brands of Lockit box, or even the MovieSlate app on my iPhone connected to my BMCC with an 3.5mm to 1/4" audio cable. Using the MovieSlate iPad app as a slate with a synced iPhone as an onboard lockit box is probably the cheapest way to do proper timecode, assuming of course that you already have the Apple gadgets.

I haven't tried the new Tentacle device but would assume it would work the same way. Jam sync it to your audio recorder, then mount it on the camera and record it's output on one of the audio channels of camera.

After a five day shoot with the Tentacle Sync and my RED Scarlet, I have to say its a great tool to have if you need to push dailies fast.

Now to get it to read as TC and somehow attach to the RED files is a different issue.

It looks like im back to using wav sync with FCPX for the R3Ds for assembly :(
