Portable Resolve Lite

Hi, what is the most portable laptop people are running Resolve Lite on? Working with DNG from Pocket cam and 5D ii (Magic Lantern Raw). Basic grading is all, 2 to three nodes.

Currently work on a specced 27" iMac, Macbook Pro 15" Retina is an obvious choice, but I wondered if any modern Ultrabook style laptops are running Resolve? Something like http://www.amazon.com/Zenbook-UX303LN-D ... nk20850-20

I think the Y50 is the cheapest useable portable solution with the 860m only $950. People reporting it working.
I worry about 4k monitors using up too much of available GPU resources.

Hi Paul, I'll check the y50 out in detail but does anybody have Resolve running on a 13"? I know that will be a squeeze on the monitor but I'll be travelling and would really like to keep size down.

You'll want a 1920x1080 display. You can search ultra light gaming computers, but they get in the mid $2k range pretty quick.

1920x1080 screen
2.4 ghz quad i7
8gb ram

Once you factor in all the other crap you have to carry, a pound or two savings in the laptop is not worth double the price

I gave up and just built another Mac pro and left it there as I don't really travel with it but just to it.

Physical size is more of a consideration for me than the actual weight.

Seen it working on a 13" MBP (even though the specs say you need the 15", not sure what that's about) it works fine, for what you can expect for this size screen and associated hardware.

Where you going to, the moon? I think the problem with the 13" in general is integrated gfx, but that first one you found gets pretty close. I'd be tempted to order, try and return if not useable. Just afraid that screen will use up all the gpu...
