Any way to keep both 11 and 12 on the same machine?

Hello guys,

I tested 12 on my leisure laptop before I install it on my main machine. I noticed that 12 overwrites 11. This makes me somewhat nervous since I do have some projects that I'm finishing up, but at the same time I wouldn't mind starting the transition to 12 a little at a time.

Any way to keep both 11 and 12 installed without having 12 overwrite 11?

From Peter Chamberlain at the lift gamma gain forum

"You can not have both apps installed at the same time.

So, back up your v11 database so you have all projects saved in v11. Upgrade to 12. Any projects opened in 12 and saved can't go back to 11.
but you have v11 database so you can always if you wanted to go back to 11, just install again and use the backup database of projects."

Bummer....I guess my best option is to hang loose and see how other people's projects are making the transition from 11 to 12...or wait until I'm done with at least one of the major projects I'm working on before I install 12.

Will be keeping my eyes peeled right on this forum!

Thanks for the reply.

It's very important to backup your Resolve database before installing Resolve 12. This is done in the Resolve Database Manager window.

As long as you do this, you can always reinstall Resolve 11 over top of Resolve 12, and Restore the backed up Resolve 11 database to have access to your Resolve 11 projects.
