Resolve 12 No AAF

PostWed Jul 29, 2015 3:52 pm

Hey Folks,

I exported from Resolve 12 using the Avid AAF preset and only changed the codec to DNxHR LB. After changing the codec I did check to make sure the preset was still selected. Resolve 12 exported the large single clip into a large single clip of the correct codec but did not give me an AAF.

I also had this problem occasionally in Resolve 11.x

Hope you folks are good,
Robert

I tried without changing anything and still no AAF. I created an AAF by right clicking on the timeline icon on the edit page and it worked but I am not sure yet that the color changes are included.

Anybody else seeing this issue?

Y'all take care,
Robert

If you only render a single clip, no AAF gets created.

But there is only one clip on the timeline. And I selected the All Clips button.

This was a day long seminar and I just let the recording run.

If that is normal, y'all need to rethink that. Anytime one selects AAF Roundtrip one should get an AAF!

Thanks,
Robert

Why would you need an AAF for a single file?

Because in this case that single file is my project media. So I copy the DNxHD or DNxHR that Resolve generates to the Avid MediaFiles folder on my external drive and go to MC and import the AAF to a bin. The import gives me a timeline in the bin along with the media. When I open the timeline it has the media oline. Easy peasy. It is the same as if the project contained multiple clips.

Remember, Avid does their own media management so the traditional Avid workflow is not like other NLE's. And that media management is why many of us, including most theatrical features, use Media Composer.

In any case, If I select something that says AAF Roundtrip, It stands to reason I would get an AAF.

Hope that helps,
Robert
