Davinci Resolve Mastering

PostSat Aug 01, 2015 7:08 pm

Hello!

Long story short, out post house had been doing broadcast mastering with Avid for years, but since Davinci 11 has all the functions we need, we wanted to try to master with Davinci, using our GPU power.
Tech specs says we need to output MXF files with AAF link.

Output specs: XDCAM 50mb/s 1080/50i with broadcast safe filter and two separate mono audio channels.
Davinci has that all - broadcast safe checkbox, XDCAM MPEG2 MXF output with audio and AAF link.

The main problem here is that our Predmaster file is ProRes 422HQ 1080/25p and I have no idea how to setup Davinci project or output to 50i, in other words converting our 25p footage to XDCAM 50i output.

I've been searching the net for a couple days now, and I finally give up.
Any thought appreciated, guys! Thanks!

I don't have a project that I could try these settings out with, but I will suggest

(Resolve 12) Output MXF OP1a Sony XDCam (interlaced), even at 25fps should output 50i as a Single Clip.

To the OP,

In another thread I pointed out that when using Single Clip I get no AAF. Dwayne from BMD says that is by design and I replied with an explanation of why I need an AAF with a single clip for Media Composer.

So you may have to generate the AAF by right clicking on the Timeline in the browser on the edit page. Not sure all the grading will be referenced in the AAF so you should test.

Hopefully BMD will change this soon. I explained further that if I click on a preset that says AAF Roundtrip that I would expect an AAF. Seems like, "Duh!" to me.

Y'all be cool,

AAF roundtrip works fine.

I have no idea how to setup or output interlaced project, everything seems to be in progressive in Davinci.
