I just tried the latest beta.
Some thoughts so far:
- The new interface is really nice. It looks better and is more friendly.
- I like the focus on editing tools, my plan is to move over the more graphically edits to Davinci and keep the more complex projects for now in FPCX.
- I still find the curves fiddly while editing opacity, scale etc. Just takes a while to open the curves and they are a bit tricky to adjust,
- I miss a Ken Burns feature similar to in FPCX, I just use it all the time.
- I manage to crash by dropping an x264 video file into the timeline, our screen capture program records x264 format instead of h264 (Open Broadcast Softare)
- I have problem with performance. I'm just editing some H264 format but it stutters heavily and I have a quite strong machine. A Dual 3.1GHz 8 core Xeon with a Geforce 980 4GB card. I will investigate more it could be that the harddrive is not fast enough to keep up.
The biggest feature I miss in editing is being able to multi select objects and change their values as FPCX does. So basically I can select all clips and just scale them at the same time for example, very easy and intuitive. Premiere has a way of copying properties but this is not as good. Better to multi select and edit whatever property we want.
