Hi there
I'm using Resolve12 beta version, and I got problem with drag media to timeline. It just don't work. I reopen the software and I tried the "insert selected clips to timeline" in the right click menus. it won't do it either. but when i create a new timeline, the problem is gone. is it a bug or something? I DO need add some clips in the existent timeline. I'm new to Resolve and I have no idea what's going on here, please help me out.

Did you ever receive an answer or solve this problem? I am suddenly experiencing the same issue.

Anyone had and resolved this issue?
So I've been reading you can't add Cross Fade to changed speed clipss. And I didn't, but it didn't work, so I put on Cross Dissolve on normal speed clips, but then changed speed. After that, the project won't allow dragging media to timeline.

Actually, No. I went ahead and updated from version 12 to 12.2 though, and the problem went away fortunately. I never figured out what was wrong.

I just ran into this problem with DR 12.5. It appears as though the timeline has become corrupt. It happened to me after a series of edits where I was moving very quickly making a lot of changes.
I tried exiting DR and going back in. I tried rebooting my Win 10 computer. Nothing had any effect.
There is a workaround. Select all of your media in the corrupt timeline and copy to a new timeline. You will then be able to perform all edit functions in the new timeline.

Still an issue in Resolve 14.
The Copy/Paste workaround still works too though!

I'm having this issue, I swear I have a glitch like this every time I make a project. The cut and paste is all good, BUT I have spent many many hours organizing, labeling, and placing my files in Bins and cutting and pasting won't preserve this. Is there anyway to carry my Bin structure into a new project so I can use the cut and paste work around?

I initially had this problem but found that if you click the ID of the track (V1, V2 A1 etc.) you kind of arm the track and you can drag your media onto it.

I had this problem and used the copy to a new timeline which allowed dragging.
Then, for no apparent reason, the audio on two clips would not play as audio on timeline, only as video. Wave forms were visible. By opening them by double click then I could play the audio but on clicking on the video to go back to the timeline, the audio was again silent.

I tried the two latest versions of 15 and both had the bug.
Is there a 15.? that works or do you have to go back to ver 14.
And or is there a work-around for the problem?

I cannot drag media into my timeline. Why? When I drag it just puts a circle and a cross bar. It won't allow me to add. Please resolve this

A very important bump so people can come here and find the actual fix. None of the solutions ever worked for me. Here is the fix: youtube.com/watch?v=crpv3f3dcRo
Basically, your Position lock is on, or your track is locked. Such a simple fix that never came up anywhere.

Just a heads up, as I had exactly the same issue with v18. Look at all of your Video tracks in the edit page and make sure where it says V1 that it is not grey. If it is Click it to turn it back to normal and everything should work again. However after you close the project and reopen it, you will have to do the same again.
Hope this helps

This was exactly it for me and seems to be the underlying problem when I researched on other pages (despite them offering other solutions that would inherently do the same change in the end).
It's been happening a lot over the past two updates for me (18.5, 18.6) and it's easy to overlook the V1 track's activation on timelines with multiple video layers. Still not sure how it's turning off to begin with, since I almost never touch anything over there.

I just had a similar issue where one clip out of four suddenly couldn't be added to the timeline in any way on v18.6 on mac and none of the solutions mentioned in this thread worked.
I ended up just deleting the project to start over after wasting 35 minutes on this, but it was over an hour before I had to do that this time which is definitely a record. I'm a little stunned at the first blush user experience for software I've been hearing people speak about in glowing terms for years.
Has a lot changed recently? From the forums it kind of looks like it's always been like this. Is it just cause the free version is mostly complete? Are Adobe and other competitors generally considered better but just more expensive? I thought most pros were using resolve these days.
