Feature Request - Flip/Flop Edit Transform For Avid AAF

PostSat Aug 29, 2015 5:52 am

I had a multi layer project with a lot of animated image scaling and cropping going on and the AAF from Avid to Resole brought over all of it! All the x/y moves and crops lined up perfectly with the offline this was great! Except for one thing - the flip and flops do not translate to Resolve's Edit Transforms as there is no flip/flop there only in Input Resize :(

I could do them in the Input Resize but it Avid's hierarchy it appears the flips and flops happen upstream from the x/y and cropping parameters so a flip/flop with Resolve Input Resize left everything backwards relative to crops and pan/tilts. I went from press a button and everything almost working to having to rebuild by hand.

Adding flip/flop to Edit Tranforms for AAF and XML workflows would be great :)

Cheers, Chris

The issue with this is that almost all NLEs handle flip/flop as a filter, not as a geometric PTRZ transform, and pretty much none of them translate.

It can be a ptrz, just is the order of operations, we should be able to stack at the very beginning.

Been asking for this since version 9. Am I crazy, or did this used to come through in version 8 before the introduction of the "Edit Sizing" section?

What I see is when Resolve tries to translate the PTZR move, it does so as a Transform within the edit page, not as a PTZR Input Sizing move. It would be nice if we could avoid the Edit Page resizes. One reason is that they're unstable when and if you change timeline resolution. PTZR Input Sizing is pretty constant; Edit Sizing (I believe) depends on timeline resolution. Same with the Title generator.
