Quicktime or Camstudio are good. When doing QT recordings I open them in MPEG Streamclip and export as MP4's at 30 f/s otherwise the video and audio from the original mov can go out of sync in Davinci

I much prefer OBS studio. If your graphics card/cpu can do hardware encoding, OBS supports it and you can't feel the encoding when you're doing what you're doing.

Easy to configure as well. It it used a lot for streaming so it has the options you'd expect.

Price: Free and open source

I use Movavi Screen Recorder (https://www.movavi.com/screen-recorder/), which can generally be had for $25, because I like the way it can be configured to highlight mouse position, mouse clicks and function-key presses. I wish it could also add key-click sounds. If you're making tutorials those things are considerations.

A nifty side-feature is that it can sort-of shoot a panorama of any scrolling window, such as a web page, making a single large image with the entire contents. Handy if you want to scroll those things in Resolve.

Whatever software you use, set it for a constant frame rate. Resolve often has trouble with variable frame rate media, causing flicker and that sort of thing.

I've been using Camstudio for screen capturing as it's free. But recently I noticed an alternative called Joyoshare Screen Recorder which appears to be more professional. But it's somehow not free. I tested the trial version and everything works better than expection. Maybe you can have a try. It's suitable for people with low budgets.
