ProRes optimized media in dvcc?

Hi all,

I'm trying to create optimized media files from BM ProRes 422 HQ and Canon H.264 to ProRes 422LT but they persistently appear in Davinci's CacheClip folder as a bunch of .dvcc files instead of a single ProRes .mov file like any transcoding in FCP.

Can somebody explain me why?

I've been searching the manual for an answer and found none.

This is the way how Resolve does it. It won't appear as single mov file.
Flame does similar thing-it uses 1 frames move. There are reasons for this- cached media, even if ProRes is treated as image sequence.
You can render your project to ProRes using cached file. It should be very fast and will give you mov file.

This approach might be used since it has speed advantages in random access.

But it could also be the reason for unexpected losses of the whole optimized media in larger projects, as have been reported here recently (and happened to me). I wonder if at some point the OS (or the decoder) is giving up on too many entries or is it a problem of Resolve itself?

I've been digging on another workflows to obtain a .mov file and transcoding files in Resolve's Media Management window works.

Didn't test for speed differences between this workaround and making optimized media but it seems that Resolve transcodes to ProRes .mov files way faster than either FCP7 or Compressor.

Plus, you can reconnect them if Resolve looses them – which is not possible for the "Optimized Media" files…
