HSL Qualifier not working

I'm having an issue wherein my HSL Qualifier doesn't seem to be working. Here's a screenshot where I tried to pull a key on the sky in the frame:

As you can see, it doesn't pull any sort of key. If I make any sort of adjustment, it adjusts the entire image, not the elements that should be keyed. Now, if I disable the Luminance control by clicking on the radio button on the left side of the Luminance section, the key appears:

Am I missing something?

You are not selecting the color range correctly. Open up the manual and have a read about how to do it.

Really? I'm just using the eye dropper to select my color. I've widened out the hue but it doesn't make a difference (as you can see below).

I've read through everything in the manual about the HSL Qualifier and can't see anything I'm missing. If there's something you're catching that I'm not, I'd love to hear what it is. The basics in the manual are pretty simple and I'm following them to the letter.

Try using the 3D keyer instead. And in a situation like this where you're trying to pull a key from a background with very little saturation, you're probably going to need to window the keyed area, most probably with a PPW (polygonal power window). You'll also have to be very careful in adjusting clean white & clean black to avoid fringing with the trees.

Yeah, I've started using the 3D keyer as that seems to work for me. I'm just stymied as to why the HSL Qualifier won't give me ANYTHING.

Did you add an Add Alpha Output node to your node tree, and connect the alpha channel output of your HSL node to it?
