Can't see audio waveform on multicam timeline

When I create a multicam clip and am editing it in a timeline, my audio waveform shows as empty. I can hear everything just fine and my render is great, but I can't see a waveform. It looks like this:

This makes it really difficult when editing if I need to cut right before an audio cue. Regular timelines look just fine, but the multicam is always flat. Thoughts?

I really can't believe that I'm the only one struggling with this. I've confimed it on every Multicam tutorial I've watched. The audio waveform NEVER is visible.

Any updates regarding not being able to see the waveform? I can't see it in Resolve 15 Beta.

Hey,
Spending lots of time in multicams too, it looks like just some clips don't display their audio waveforms here; didn't figure out why and why those only si far...

Hi,

Here no problem with a multiCam 4 video + audio.

Check your sources. :)

Yes, you seem like a great source for telling us how you are able to see the waveform. What is your workflow?

Hi,

What is your OS? which OS version? Which version Davinci Resolve? :)

I'm using Resolve Studio 15 Beta on a 10.13.4 High Sierra.

Need any other info?

Here is what I'm experiencing as well: When I have a multicam clip loaded into the source monitor to then pull pieces from to complete my edit, I am unable to see the waveform when I click and select the waveform button.

Has anyone experienced this and know how to correct this?

Hi,

I think you should read the manual V14.3 chapter 21 page 407-415
One can also buy "The final guide to Davinci Resolve 14" by Paul Saccone

The most important thing about a multicam is how you sync clips to each other (Angle sync)

By IN, by timeCode, by marker, by sound, by MetaData (see manual)

We then create a MultiCam clip.

(In case, I scored in / out on each of the clips before and made a multicam by Marker.)

Then:
1) make sure that for the source viewer we have the icon "source" (below left of the viewer)
2) bring the playhead to where you want to insert your multucam
3) bring the MultiCam clip into the source viewer and using the mouse go from beginning to end. We can see the moments when one angle stops before another, etc ...
step1.jpg

4) F9 (insert)
5) The clip is on the destination track and covers the entire video + audio multicam of the longuest angle
6) reposition the playhead at the beginning of the TL / multicam
7) change the mode to multicam and we see that the icon of the mouse becomes a razor
8) after we can change the mode of the multicam: video / video + audio or only audio.
9) To change the angle without cutting the razor, use ALT + N ° angle and move forward or back the playhead => clic (razor) to break on the new angle
etc ...
step2.jpg

to finish if you have a mastered audio that covers all angles, you can work by placing it on A2 or others and put it in solo, etc.
Each his technique.

Nick when you step into the multicam do you see the waveform? What is the track config of the multicam file? I saw this in previous version but have not ran across it yet in b5.
