In an Explorer window, go to this path:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

And run the CaptureLogs.bat file. This will place a .zip file on your desktop.

Post a link to the .zip file.

Hello,

I am currently experiencing the same issue, when I click on the Resolve icon, or try to start the program any other way, I get no response. Anyone have any suggestions? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program multiple times, temporarily disabling my firewall - nothing seems to be working.

Any help is appreciated!

Logs?

Since Resolve won't open, you can manually generate the logs:

In an Explorer window, go to this path:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

And run the CaptureLogs.bat file. This will place a .zip file on your desktop.

If your Asus has an UHD display (3840 x 2160 pixels) try lowering your display resolution to 1080 and see if Resolve will start up.

I can't seem to be able to attach the zip file to this post, and I am also getting an error message stating "You are unable to post URLs" so I can't post a link to the file in Google Drive or anything like that.

How can I upload this file for someone to view?

Thanks!

I'm having the same issue on an Asus notebook.

Resolve worked in the morning. I filled up the cache drive and poof, no more worky.

Reinstalled, etc. Nothing happens when I start Resolve.

I'll post my file in another thread but thought I'd commiserate here.

Same issue - install runs fine, when I try to run (Resolve 14 free version) crashes out.
Win10.

Logs at https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B018u ... lh3WHp5UEk (about 30 megs)

I'm hoping this is just a matter of needing to reboot, as I noticed it installing some devices and I have seen that Win10 is a little squirrely with that until after reboots.

Thanks!

@Alex: You are running NVIDIA driver 376.54, which doesn't seem to be a listed driver for your 860M GPU, and it's an old driver. Try updating to the current driver (387.92) and see if that helps.

Also, for some reason, your log folder was empty, so no way to see what was actually happening. But the driver seems like a likely suspect.

Hi gang--I'm new to the forum and hope someone can help.

My problem is that Resolve won't start (release 15.1.2). I ran CaptureLogs.bat as suggested in this thread (see attached zip file). The error I see is this:

There are 1 GPUs in the system.
[0x00000224] | SyManager.DeckLink | ERROR | 2018-10-30 17:47:20,673 | Failed to create instance.

Resolve seems to be happy about everything else. Can anyone help. Note that I have been running the beta version (15.0b5) with no problems. I'm on an older Windows 10 platform--my graphics card is a GeForce GT 710. I have updated Windows 10 and my video drivers. Thanks

I see no indication that you've run a previous version of Resolve. Did you do some some of clean install of 15.1.2?

Run Windows System Information, do a File - Save, and link to the .NFO file.

Yes, I used Revo Uninstaller and did a very deep uninstall because I had trouble getting Resolve 15 to install at all, and was advised by Blackmagic to remove the Beta version first. Turned out I had a corrupt install file--when I downloaded a new one, it installed fine. FYI: When I ran it the first time after the install, it did let me do the initial set up, but that was as far as I got.

Hello. I've been working on Resolve 15 beta public for the last few months on my short film. Today I wanted to do some final adjustments and, for some reason, when I try to open it, it crashes. It gets to the "Looking for control surface..." part and it just closes and also vanishes from the task manager.

I have Windows 10 and I uploaded all the system information (NFO file) and the Davinci log file on Google Drive. You can see all the info here:

https://drive.google. com/open?id=1y97fkqPBS0hiSPOo4Psj2EYGrNs6Qr0U

I would greatly appreciate it if you could give me any help.

Thank so much in advance

Hello everyone,
Another of the same problem.
I upgraded my custom built to i7700k and nvidia 1060 recently and reinstalled win 10.
After reinstall, I upgraded to Resolve 15.1.2 (used the 14.xxx on my older setup) and now it won't start. Same thing as everyone (apparently, around here), it won't make it to splash screen.
Tried a lot of the suggested fixes, nothing works.
I don't get it...and it's frustrating because it was working just fine on the 6600k and 970gtx

OS: Win 10 rev 1803
MB: Gigabyte Z270x K5
Proc: Intel Kaby 7700k (4.2Ghz)
VC: nVidia GTX1060 6gb

Re: Resolve wont start (SOLVED)

PostTue Nov 06, 2018 8:39 pm

Ok guys apparently nobody cares about problems around here.

I found the solution in a thread somewhere else (6years old) lol, which tell me the the balckmagic team totally careless when it comes to software issues and bugs. whatever...

For those of you who are trying to start the Davinci Resolve 15 and it won;t start properly (it only shows up in Task manager, but it basically crashes and it's not showing anything when you are trying to open the app) here is what you need to do.
Windows 10 (1803)users: Go to: Windows/System32/DriverStore/FileRepository and look for this file
igdrclneo64.dll. Copy the file somewhere else for safety (mem stick or another hard or partition)
than delete the original. Try to restart the resolve.
For me it worked and still works (3 edit sessions already)
HOPE THAT HELPED.

Be safe,
Chris N.

@Silveo: you are running a very old Resolve 15 beta version. I'm not sure why it would have worked on 10-30 and then not worked on 11-2, unless perhaps a Windows Update happened on your system.

At any rate, install the current Resolve 15.1.2 version, and hopefully that works better.

No. The bulk of it seems to be missing,

Open Windows System Information, then select the File menu, then select Save. Don't select Export.

When you select Save, it should ask for a file name, and automatically use an NFO extension.

The file should be at least 1MB in size. It's normally 3 to 4MB in size.

The file you sent is 4KB.

Hi Dwaine

I used to have no dedicated GPU in my system and 15.1.2 ran fine (however slow)
Just installed a GFX 2080 with latest driver and I can't get the program to open anymore.

Hereby my log file.

Hello, Dwaine. Thanks so much for your answer. I was wondering, if I install the Resolve 15.1.2 version will I lose the work I've done on my project so far? How could I backup my project? My short is almost finished and I do not want to start from zero again...

@Larry: You have an AMD CPU that is likely not compatible with Resolve 15.1.

To verify that, uninstall Resolve, and install Resolve 15.0.1. If that works, it's your CPU. That issue is being looked into.

@Silvio: It's always a VERY good idea to make regular Project Exports of critical projects, especially ones that are days/weeks old. So certainly do that. You should also back up your project database. You do that in the Project Manager window with the databases exposed, using the icon at the top with the up arrow.
But hopefully your project should come across OK.

Re: Resolve wont start

PostThu Nov 08, 2018 10:53 pm

Ok guys it seems I have found the SOLUTION
It seems that onboard GPU drivers as with the latest Intel CPU's interfere bigtime with dedicated GPU card drivers!

What I did :

Download and install DDU program for a deep uninstall of your GPU drivers (look it up at Guru3D website)

Boot up your computer in safe mode
Run DDU and choose to uninstall your GPU ONBOARD driver (Intel 530 in my case)
(I left the installed GTX driver for what it was, even though as it seems now it isn't the latest release)
Reboot normally et voila!

I can run the latest version of Resolve again.
Program starts up normal and I tried a quick import and edit of a video file and it does work super fast with the dedicated RTX card compared to before where I was using the accelerated Intel 530 graphics.

Hope it continues to work fine but all seems good for now!

Hope this helps other people!

Dwaine,

I finally got a chance to go back to version 15.0.1, and you were right--it runs fine, so 15.1 has a problem with AMD, I guess. If I create a project a computer running 15.1, will I be able to open it in 15.0.1?

Please post to this thread when you've heard that 15.1 is fixed for AMD. Thanks.

It appears you have an issue with the Intel driver, which several people have had. My guidance at the end of this thread will hopefully help:

viewtopic.php?f=21&t=60262&hilit=+igdrclneo64.dll

There may be more than one copy of the igdrclneo64.dll and you'll probably need to delete it(them) as Windows probably won't let you just rename it(them).

I downloaded Resolve 15.2.1 this morning. So far I've been running it on my MacBook Pro with no probs. However, on my Windows 10 PC it won't get beyond the Loading Monitor stage.
I have searched for the igdrclneo64.dll file, but it's not on my system. I've uninstalled via Revo, re-downloaded, reinstalled - nothing works.
When I try to upload my System Info file it tells me that it is too large (2.3mbs) - how do I get it smaller?

You don't make it smaller. You post it on a file sharing site and provide a link to the file.

But in this case, since you have an AMD RX460 GPU, it's more likely to be related to the AMD driver. What driver is currently installed? Others have reported issues with various AMD drivers, including the current one, so you might want to try a few other driver versions.

Hi. I noticed other users with this same issue. However, they each have a different resolution.
I just purchased a new laptop. The program installed fine. It even walked me through the tutorial, but, then it wouldn't start up. Firewall is down, Windows 10 was restarted, I tried running as administrator, and did notice it is running in task manager. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Jim

Actually I managed to get Resolve 15 running thanks to the post quoted below :D

@Mathieu: It appears you have an issue with the Intel driver, which several people have had.

@Jimmy: Your link does not work.
