Did the issue happen immediately after you started the render? amazingly fast answers and support... very happy, thank you so much! I will have to upgrade to windows 10 shortly! However, I can export 4K H.264 in premiere cc2015, then... why is Davinci restricted to windows support for H.264?

That means Windows 7 will not work for this as well.
Have the same error when try exporting 4K h.264 ("recording failed with error: failed to encode the video frame ") So I don't understand why Premiere can export 4k using h.264 (windows 8.1) and Davinci not?
Dwaine Maggart wrote:Right, in UHD, MPEG4 works and H.264 doesn't work in Windows 8.1.
I suspect that means the 2 modes require different underlying OS support.
Win10 is the only option for UHD H.264 to work.
I registered specifically to say thank you for your responses in this thread. I tried so many things and finally a search of an error string from the logs brought me here. Finally, mystery solved.
