How do I auto distribute clip frames to timeline frames?

What is the correct way to take a "high" fps clip in Resolve and distribute the clip frames in the timeline to conform to timeline fps?

Example:

I have a 25fps timeline consisting mostly of 25fps footage. But then I also have a clip with 50fps. I'd like to play it at half speed. OK, so that is easy and I just end up with 50%. But what if the clip is 60fps, 100 or 240fps? I want DaVinci to calculate the correct clip length depending on speed difference between timeline speed and actual fps.

FCPX has a very nice 'automatic speed' function that does this. Is there anything similar in Resolve?

Hello, Andree,
simply use the Clip Attributes menu (right click on a clip or more than one) and chose the FPS you want the clip to play at—in your case the same FPS as your timeline—and it will conform frames of the clip to the frames of the timeline.

How about that!

That's great, thanks!

Nearly 5 years later - this is just what I was looking for. Over-cranking at 60 or 120 fps and normalising 1:1 frame speed in post is my favoured way of getting smooth slo-mo.

Thanks!

The only thing to be aware of is that it changes the frame rate of the whole clip in the Media Pool. Sometimes I will want bits from the same clip to run at real-life speed. Not a problem, just something to be aware of and my workflow now is just to duplicate the clip in the Media Pool and then change the Clip Attributes there for one of them.

Thanks again.
