I'm running Davinci Resolve 12.5 on a Windows 10 i7 16GB Notebook. Every time my auto-save pops up, the popup freezes at 96% and resolve displays "not responding". After 2 minutes the popup dissapears and resolve starts responding again. The project is medium size with mostly Cinema DNG 1080p footage. Anyone else experiencing this issue? Normal saving works fine.

I saw one project only on Linux that was showing this behavior. sometimes auto save was looking the machine for 15 minutes.

We have definitely seen this issue specifically with SQL shared databases with Walter and a few other artists lately. The project complexity seems to be an issue but it is hit or miss with the same number for timelines/media files etc. There are no logs produced by the machine, software or remote SQL server during the hang time so it is tough to figure out what the actual issues is.


We can go in and save other projects in the same database or other databases on the same database server during this time without any issues.

Peter we have seen this issue since I believe 12.5.1 but it had gotten much worse for us over the past few months running 12.5.3 during some major projects.

This is in relation to a remote OSX server running a postgres database and being connected to over 10GB ethernet. During the freeze on a Resolve station we can go in and save other projects with no issue from other stations connected to the same database. It only seems to occur during an autosave call from Resolve. A regular manual Save never has that issue for us. No logs or errors are produced on either end of it during this time and the Resolve software behaves like it has crashed.

10-15 minutes later it will spring back to life and complete the save with no report of why it hung up.

I've seen this on 12.5.1 plus as well, and I'm not running a database, though my freezes are only in the 10's of seconds.

This is my main concern with moving to a Project Server over a local project database. Interested to know if it is a network solution or not.

Out of interest, are people having this issue connected to the server via gigabit or 10gig ethernet? Also, what sort of drive is the database being stored on on the server?

It seems that in Resolve 15 the application freezes AFTER each autosafe.
The autosave dialog takes a second or two. Then it disapears. Then Resolve does not react to input for 20-30 seconds including Windows offering to close it. Then it is back to normal.

Still rendering an UltraHD video-wall with NeatVideo on some of the clips. Maybe in 7h.

Debug log saved. Where to send it and referencing what ticket/title/...?


Strange that nobody answered that this happens to them too.
It is clearly related to the autosave but the dialog has already disapeared,
indicating that all work related to autosave is done.

Put the logs and project drp on a file sharing site and provide a link. Either here, or PM if you prefer.

I take it that the logs did not contain anything useful for determining the cause?

I'm experiencing the same problem in DR version 14.3.1.

In my case it's specifically happening when I cancel the process of Resolve generating Optimized Media. It immediately wants to Auto Save but then it hangs/freezes on the auto save, effectively losing all the new Optimized Media if I need to Force Quit....

Any luck resolving this?

I have this issue now on 15.3. Hangs immediately After each autosave.

Turning off Autosave resolves ( ) the issue.

System:
- Windows 10 Home 1903 Build 18362.388
- Two different PCs: one an Intel 3930K build, the other a Ryzen 3800x build.
- 10Gbe connection to media storage (Asus XG-C100C PCI card connected to a QNAP TVS-872XT)
- PostgreSQL DB running on the QNAP over the same 10Gbe connection
- Resolve Studio 16.0.0.060

If there's interest I can generate the debug log and export the project to share with anyone from BM.

I have the same issue with Resolve 16.2. I use disk Project DB.

Try 16.2.1... lots of fixes since 16.0. see if that helps, im also skeptical of image and DB connection on the same network.. the DB wants very low latency,, and if a big file is being played that might cause delays.. even on a 10g link. generate logs and NFO files as per FAQs and post if u have tried 16.2.1

Giving traffic using the PostgreSQL port numbers priority sounds like a great idea in a local network.
It has to be done on the sender side. So NAS and PC need to both do it.
(And reducing the priority for bulk SMB/CIFS traffic while at it.)

I still got it on 16.2.8. Auto save freezes at 1% once in 10 cases

I'm also experiencing this on 17.1 on a 2016 15" MBP Big Sur 11.1. Autosave continually hangs at 5%

I was able to get around this problem by turning on dynamic project switching, copying all my assets, and pasting them into to a fresh project. This makes me think the autosave cache for a particular project may fill up and crash the project? Surely the settings should be able to automatically manage this better?

1) was that a fresh database or an update form an early version of the software?
2) can you backup the database and optimize it?

This was the same database and I didn’t update it optimize it. I’m running 17.1 beta 6 or something like that. Just a new project.

Hi everyone. I just ran into this problem and I was forced to restart Resolve. I had to do many times today when working on my project with a large number of timelines. I'm going through many interviews for a documentary and organizing them by color. Below is a link to my project files and log export. No media though, its 567GB. Hopefully BM sees this and fixes it.

Did you try to make a backup (for safety) and right click->optimize it?
