DVR14 crash on project change now won't open

Was testing out the new DaVinci Resolve 14 Studio and it was performing well. Tried to change to a different project without closing DVR and got this crash report.

Used task manager (Windows 10) to close down the DVR 14. Now the DVR14 runs startup but after the "loading video waveforms" are loaded the splash page disappears and Resolve shuts down.

I have restarted the computer, uninstalled and re-installed the programme (including panels) but nothing works.

Opened logs and the last messages are:
...
ERROR - Failed to find value '14' in combo-box
ERROR - Failed to find value '-1' in combo-box
INFO - Caught termination signal SIGABRT, triggering termination routine
ERROR - Termination request failed

So I have removed v14 and installed 12.5.5 and it opened and operated normally. Interestingly looking at the logs 12.5.5 also returns this error code sequence but doesn't terminate and continues the routine.
...
ERROR - Failed to find value '14' in combo-box
ERROR - Failed to find value '-1' in combo-box
INFO - Main view page is changed to 12
...

Note I am not the only one experiencing this problem
