Multi cam editing help

Hi, I'm using 2 camera angles from 2 dslr's and I'm trying to create a multicam timeline using their sound as sync reference. However, though I only have 2 angles I have 5 clips (2 clips from DSLR 1 and 3 Clips from DSLR 2) and davinci keeps creating a multicam sequence with 5 angles from these clips. Does anyone have experience with this?

Hi there,

In the multicam settings window there is a checkmark to "detect clips from same camera". There you can also choose the way to identify those clips. One way would be reel name.
Do you transcode your clips?
If you don't, there is a tool called "QT Change" which will insert reel names into clips, or you transcode to an editor friendly codec with cliptoolz or some other tool and get reel names that way.

Thanks for the reply! I have been playing with QT Change and detecting cameras using reel name but no luck. I included some screen shots, is there maybe something that I'm missing or could have done wrong?

On the page of QTChange they give some instructions regarding the prefs of DaVinci.

Did you change those settings?

PP method, which works for Resolve, is to set the metadata for the 'angle' for the same camera

Then select 'Detect clips from the same camera' and use 'angle'.

Metadata for angle (and reel# camera# and roll card#) are in the metadata inspector - choose 'shot scene' from the drop down
