Can't add a transition between clips

PostWed Jun 07, 2017 1:01 am

Hi

I started a new project. Imported my clips then went edit sandpit the clips on the timeline. Most of the clips are full length. a few I made an in and out point.

When I tried to add a cross dissolve it wouldn't let me.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

You say that most of your clips are full length. If you are just butting them up together it means that there is no video available to crossfade from and too.

So then can I overlap them a few frames or trim them?

The trim option dialog box did not pop up?

Yes, you can trim each clip and then butt them together, then apply the crossfade. Obviously the length of the crossfade is dependent on how much the video clips overlap.

Thank you solved my issue as well. I had a movie the other day where I could only apply the transition to one side of the joint. This now explains why.

Cheers :)

2. Then do.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
