All Projects Gone

PostWed Jun 14, 2017 9:43 pm

Hi,

Last week I opened Resolve 12.5 on Windows and suddendly all my projects were gone. I don't have a backup file since I have a backup pipeline to an other HDD which seems to be worthless now. All the files still seem to be in the folders.

I also have on that backup HDD an older "Resolve Database" - though when I try to connect it I get an 'error'.

i don't get whats wrong.

Can anybody please help me to fix it?

Many thanks & Cheers

In a File Explorer window, go to this folder:

C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Resolve Disk Database\Resolve Projects\Users\guest\Projects

Are there project folders there? If so, can you zip a few of the important ones and provide a link to them, so we can examine them?

The same thing happened to me on 12.5 a few months ago.

I noticed that there is a folder inside the Projects folder called SeqContainer. And all but one of the .xml files inside this folder were blank.

I was using Diskdatabase with Auto Save turned on.

Hi Janis,

I was able to open your database in 12.5 Studio. I had to create a user named "guest", but I was able to open the database by connecting to it from the database manager and selecting the folder "Resolve Projects-20170615T100211Z-001" (BTW, when connecting to a database, do not select the folder "Resolve Projects" as that will give you an error. You have to select the higher level folder that "Resolve Projects" lives inside of.)

Hope that gives you some hope that not all is lost.

It likely wasn't able to do a complete clean restore.

If you'd like to zip the folder and put it on a file sharing site and provide a link to the file, we can take a look at it.
