Fairlight integration

PostThu Jun 29, 2017 9:48 pm

I was wondering if all of fairlights toolsets have been implemented into resolve14b4 yet as I think the tool set is very basic for a software that apparently competed with protools.
No (spectral analysing-) Denoiser, delayers... Is more to come with resolve 14 final?
Anyone experience with the old fairlight platform, what tools were included?

To be fair ProTools doesn't offer those functions as standard either. Third party tools are still required for the majority of audio workstations, or it is provided as a paid software option.

People seem to struggle with the concept of beta (granted the current Fairlight integration is perhaps closer to an alpha), but just a brief skimming of BlackMagic's Fairlight page illustrates just how much more work is still required - and that is but a subset of the functionality.

Integrating two code bases isn't exactly as simple as just copy/pasting some code, so the developers should be afforded the opportunity and time to implement the integration to a standard we, as users, may expect and demand. It really is early days, and we as users should be thoroughly testing in order to provide the valuable and clearly laid out feedback and the method to reproduce the issues we log, the developers require in order to complete the massive undertaking. In other words, work toward the product we want.

For interest a demo from 2009 (when ProTools could barely offer transparent gain changes, nor bounce faster than realtime, was unable to do realtime fades, delay compensation barely functioned, or was creating fade files for every action):

The playlist has all 11 videos in the series, plus a few others: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUdY ... n41v2XmjFG

The 3DAW intro video (note some of these videos are from 2014)
(ProTools may be the market leader in terms of brand recognition but barely follows in terms of functionality and feature set):

The Consoles:
⟦ Mac Pro 7,1 Rack ⊕ 16-core 3.2GHz ⊕ 32GB RAM ⊕ Radeon 580X • Resolve Studio 19.0 • macOS 14.4.1 ⟧
⟦ Fairlight Studio Console ⊕ Fairlight Audio Accelerator ⊕ Merging Hapi • Anubis • Ravenna CoreAudio VAD ⟧
