I'm having the same issue, and there is no audio playing on the timeline, only on the clips in the viewer.

I'm having the same problem here.
The Fairlight tab doesn't play back any sounds, nor does it move the playhead by any control.

It worked once for awhile. But every other time (about 3 times) I have launched the application and had no sound anywhere.
In all cases when using the Fairchild tab, no playback was possible. Play head just froze. And when I went to this tab when sound had been working on the edit tab (the one time), it stopped working.
Wind 10 x64, Focusrite 2i2 (didn't work with internal sound card either).

No audio on edit or audio page. However, if you select the clip in the audio page then go back to audio and hit play, you can hear audio.

Same here, with a twist:

Clips with audio placed on the timeline act like they're muted, until the playhead gets about 24 seconds or so in, at which point audio switches on. (The audio is sync, so it's not some strange delay.)

Audio worked fine at first, then I switched to the fairlight page, then the program crashed. When I reopened the audio was gone. Went to the audio section in the settings and switched 'enable audio' off and then on again, then I got audio. Then I played through the timeline, then the audio disappeared again.

Same issue here.
No audio play back on timeline. Audio is in wave format.
In Fairlight page, the play head does not move and therefore no sound.
Audio of the clips do play in source viewer.
After clicking over to Fairlight and back to Edit page, hit play and audio does play but only for a few seconds and then gone silent again.

My findings so far.
Clips in preview pane play audio without problems.
Timeline audio plays for 10 seconds then cuts out, and is random within the timeline.
In the Fairlight page, transport controls do not work and no audio when scrubbing. Only functional item is the video window.
Colour page audio cuts out after 10 seconds. Same in the deliver page.
Audio also disappears in the rendered video!

Just check in the windows control panel that the integrated sound card is the correct default and in the preferences of Davinci Resolve: enable "Use System Audio Output".
If it works then disable "Use System Audio Output" to have sound via a BMD card.

I have the same issue, however I have noticed some extra detail, in that the playback of audio in the edit view will only occur for 10 or so seconds AFTER the position of the play cursor in the Fairlight Audio view.

Therefore if you move the play position in the Fairlight view to the beginning of your timeline then switch back to the edit view and start from the beginning you will get audio for 10 seconds at which point it will cut out.
Now move the play position in the Fairlight view to 24 seconds in and sound will only play in the edit view from 24 to 34 seconds.

Hope this helps the developers.

Edit:
I should add that this is installed on a Win10 64bit machine Intel Core i7-4700K 16GB RAM with a Tascam US-1800 USB sound card. (Graphics is onboard Intel Graphics HD 4600)

My Windows user account is a normal user (not administrator) and I installed Resolve as the normal user. (however I had to elevate in order to install)
I have noticed several issues with the user account and this version of Resolve. e.g it is not possible to uninstall it as it does not appear in the list. I have to login as the administrator to remove the program.

If you are on windows and you use the sound card of the PC: control the default device of the times that it is not the right one.

You mean the "windows sound playback settings" ? That one is correct here.
Little site note, if I downgrade back to 12.5 the sound works again.

Update: OMG now it works again, and I have not changed a thing, very hard to trouble shoot this as this "bug" is really inconsitent.

I just figured out a workaround!

For some reasons Resolve 14 did not like my onboard card (analog or optical) and didn't like my USB audio card.

When I set my HDMI monitor as the default audio device, everything started working great. It's not ideal, but I can play with Resolve 14 now.

Hmm. I need to try this when I get home tonight. I wonder if it's a sampling issue. I don't have my motherboard audio installed but DR14 does not like my USB DAC. It also won't play with my Decklink card.

I got same audio issue as others here. Fairlight did not played at all. timeline played audio about 10 seconds from the point where I left cursor in Fairlight.

When I changed default audio playback device to HDMI monitor from Windows Playback devices everything suddenly started to work. Weird. Hopefully that helps you too until development team finds out what is wrong.

As I suspected it's a bit depth/sampling mismatch issue. I was able to get all my devices(using system audio) to playback audio in the editing and Fairlight tabs but I had to manually set each device to match.

Hi,

Exactly the same problem here, so it seems to be a widespread issue as of this date. I changed the default windows device sample rate to match the audio in my Davinci project and the audio was still intermittent. Seems to need a BM update.

Yes, I too found it to be the sample rate setting on my sound card. However, I have found in the Fairlight page one annoying bug. If you have the viewer window in the enlarged mode, when you select either EQ or Dymamics, it totally disappears. The only way to bring it back is to switch to the Edit page and then back to the Fairlight page. It does not disappear when in small docked mode.

Update. I have found that the viewer window only disappears in dual screen mode. If in single screen and you un-dock the viewer and drag it to your second screen, it stays there.

There also seems to be an issue with audio going out of sync if project framerate is different than original recorded files. Video displayed ok with 25fps when original recording was 30fps and audio sounded good also for about 4-5seconds, until it always starts stuttering. Stuttering goes away after pause + play, but it's still a bit off-sync. Using 30fps on project solved the problem.

48khz switch solved the problem for me.

I had no audio whatsoever when I installed 14 over 12.5 , after much head scratching I found the problem lay in the BMD folder located in Programdata (normally a hidden folder).
My method was to make a copy of my Projects Folder (dont want to loose all that hard work) Path=
C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Resolve Disk Database\Resolve Projects
then delete the whole BMD folder in Programdata , uninstall 12.5 ,install 14 and lastly replace the new Resolve projects folder with my old one.

Cheers
