Missing Lookup Table

PostWed Jul 12, 2017 3:46 pm

Hi all,
I use Resolve to grade my Gopro videos. I have been getting the Missing Lookup Table message since I installed the first 14beta version. This message comes up when I go to color to apply 3D LUTS. If I roll back to 12.5.5 my 3D LUTS work just fine. After installing any of the 14b versions applying 3D LUTS turns every node to black. I tried a clean install as well, but it didn't work. Please, let me know if you have any idea how to fix this issue.
I attached the diagnostic log file.

I am using an ancient Win7 Lenovo Y570 laptop with 6GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M, Intel Core i7 (2nd Gen) 2670QM / 2.2 GHz.

Thank you.
Rob

I'm not sure, but is the path of the /LUT folder different in resolve 14?

I didn't look at your logs -- and wouldn't know what to look for -- but your system is under-powered, the black you're seeing is probably thanks to the [very] weak GPU. Why it worked in 12.x I can't explain, but you're running on fumes in any case.

On a Windows installation, the LUTs don't appear to get relocated by the betas, so can't explain that.

Your GPU has CUDA Compute capability 2.1. Resolve 14 requires 3.0.

So your system is not going to be able to run Resolve 14.

Thanks guys. My system runs 14 much better than any older version. I could not edit in versions 12 or older, however, in 14 I finally can. I used to edit in Vegas. Since 14 came out everything is much smoother and faster. The change is huge even on this old system. Of course, the things I do is just some basic editing, with a lot's of color grading. It works. Too bad, I can't use LUTS anymore.

There's nothing to stop you from simply turning the knobs and correcting it manually without any LUT at all. GoPro footage is tiddly-winks -- this is very simple stuff. Try curves for an overall gamma setting, then use scopes and eyeballs for chroma and lift/gamma/gain. It doesn't hurt to shoot a known reference chart (like a DSC One-Shit or the XRite ColorChecker Video) and get a reasonable overall balance from that.

Hi Marc, yes that is what I have been doing. My gopro shots are all flat, so I play around with the knobs until I get a result I really like. After I am done with my grading I just go back to the flat image and start looking at LUTS to see what other results could come out, or just get some new ideas.
Anyway, now that I have been thinking about this I remember that with the first installation my LUTS actually worked in 14. I even downloaded some new ones, but they didn't show up in the LUTS list even after updating the LUTS folder. So, I went to the LUTS folder and deleted a bunch of stuff, mostly older LUTS that I never used or liked. It was after this event that they totally stopped working. I thought I deleted something I shouldn't have. I uninstalled 14 then reinstalled it, went back to 12.5 then updated to 14, did clean installs etc, but they never ever came back to life. If I go back to 12.5.5 they do work again.
