Fairlight: Change effect order?

Hi folks,

we have a serious problem within the Fairlight page. We applied some effects on a track and wanted to reorder them after a while. But it's just not possible. Is this a bug or a missing feature or are we just to stupid to see it :-D ?

Thanx

Whaaaat???

So it's DEFINITELY time to implement it! This makes the Fairlight page pretty useless to me.

I think we owe BMD a little patience on this one.

Fairlight integration is not quite there yet, true, but that is expected for what is essentially a v1.0 software. A few essential features are missing, the interface is only so-so, and there are still obvious bugs, but I suspect things will improve fairly quickly.

Given how recently BMD acquired Fairlight, it's quite impressive it is implemented at all at this stage. For the time being I am super happy with the things it actually does allow me to do. High hopes for the next few updates though!

BMD did an extremely good job in implementing EVERYTHING in Resolve. I love this program.
In our small facility we wanted to test a new workflow where everybody (editor, grader, sound, vfx) works within Resolve/Fusion on the same project. But unfortunately because we work with a lot of VST-plugins from iZotope (Ozone etc.) and you must reorder effects, this workflow cannot be done at the moment.

I have asked for this as well at IBC just now, and they are on it ;-)
They realise fairlight is in its early stages, but more is coming very soon! Give them some time!

So still no ability to rearrange the effects in the Fairlight page with 14.1 update...

Philipp, I get it, we all really do. I mean that. But you/we also need to give the team at BMD time to work. If they said they are on it, then they are on it. But two months to the day is not much time. I honestly mean no offense by this post. And fully recognize that it is important to point out sorely needed missing features. It's just that it's also important to give people time to work.

I fully agree with you. Just a sidenote for everyone who want's to be informed.

It's a long-time requested feature, and probably somewhere on their long, long list.

Reordering aside, have you worked successfully with multiple Izotope plugins, without encountering latency issues -- sync loss, pre-echo, etc.? Haven't tested the rx plugins on 14.1 yet, but up to this point there has been no way to make extended use of them inside Resolve, because the renders had the same latency artifacts as real-time playback, when a few are applied (one or two may be fine, depending).

Peace and hoping for this feature soon! ;)

I just ran into some issues with RX vocal denoise and de-reverb going wonky on me. And when I heard the program playout for real during exhibition, some of it sounded odd. Overall it went over very well, but I *believe* I ran into what you are describing with final render, and it could have been a nightmare. So I know what you are saying.

And truly I think it is important for people who push Resolve to give feedback. Any NLE or DAW's can edit volleyball videos. It's when working on complicated projects under a tight deadline with a lot people who are all asking for material at the same time that you learn what a program has or hasn't. And we do need to communicate those experiences to the BMD team.

I'd like to give this a bump as an issue that needs addressed pronto.

I wasted several hours on this issue before I found this thread, because the manual that comes with 14.1 says you can do this on page 1187.

To rearrange the order of multiple video filters applied to a clip: Click the move up or move down buttons in any filters title bar, to the left of each filter's Trash Can Button.

The signal/flow diagrams on pages 1198 & 1199 suggest that Dynamics, EQ, plugins, and insets are all reorderable.

Double-click to track header (A1, M1 etc.) in Mixer pane.
Then, in Inspector, little arrows.

Awesome, thanks.

Agreed, quite slow to do the actual switching for me too (R16), but it works.

You may want to rethink that part of the workflow. Seems those plug-ins aren't always problem-free in Resolve.

This does not seem to work in V17 (mac).

Functional on macOS with both 17.0 and 17.1 releases.

In the Effects tab within the Inspector does mouse clicking the up/down arrow (next to the bin icon) not change the plugin order for the selected Track/Buss?
