After rendering video plays too fast

PostTue Oct 03, 2017 8:08 pm

Hello
During editing both video and sound plays at correct speed (25fps) but after rendering video plays faster. After 1 min the video is 2 sec before. Something that has to do with rendering settings?
Timeline is 25 fps.
Thanks,
Oscar

Hi Oscar

What are your source files?
What are you rendering to? And did you check your export on several players/another system as well?

Hi Hector

MXF Sony F55 files, 25 fps, 2K.
Rendering to quicktime, H264, HD1920x1080.
Tried to play it in quicktime and VLC, same thing. No, not another computer.

Just posting in case there was a potential gotcha in play...

Resolve distinguishes between timeline and playback frame rates that can be individually set via Project Settings. Could you check to see if both were set to 25? Could you try creating a new timeline in the same project and seeing if the faster playback of the rendered clip is observed on that timeline too?

yes both project and timeline 25 fps but at first I had the project in 24 fps, by mistake, but I changed it to 25.
yes tried to make a new timeline with 25 fps from the start but same thing happens.
now I tried to make a compound clip of both video and sound, copy, start a new project, paste the compound clip. that worked. but I still don't understand why this happens when it's cut up to many differens clips.

Indeed this sounds bit strange and shouldn't happen if project fps matches source and export.

Did you try uploading it to YouTube (even as private) to make sure problem isn't local?
80Mbs is maybe too much for your system to play correctly... you can try lowering to 15-20Mbs to test.

I don't think it should matter, but did you try exporting to MP4 instead of MOV?

Did you ever figure out what happened? I'm having the same issue! Timeline and project settings are 24p but export is playing back at like 100x speed. Youtube can't play the file.

Edit: the video plays FINE on my ios youtube app but non in google chrome on my desktop. It won't play at all. Chrome is up to date too.

Edit 2: I tried making a compound clip and pasting into a new timeline. Playback is now even faster on my local via quicktime. Still plays normally on VLC.

Edit 3: Restarted computer and egpu. Problem fixed. So there was nothing wrong with the actual file....
