Splitting Stereo channels into two mono tracks

PostFri Nov 10, 2017 7:34 am

It used to be super easy in 12.5 (just click "mono" and increase the number of tracks to 2 in the clip attributes), but now the audio panel in the clip attributes windows does not look like it is supposed to. It is not the cosmetics that's bothering me: the number of tracks is just 1, and it is grayed out.

This is how it looks:

And this is how it is supposed to look (at least this is what the manual claims)

What am I doing wrong?

I mean, it is still possible to do it by duplicating the whole track and then selectively muting different channels in both tracks, but this is insane.

Another insane thing :
You can't add audio track to a clip in the timeline, but from a clip in the media pool

Don't kill the messager ;-)

At NABNY this year I mentioned to a tech at the BMD booth that I was unable to split stereo audio into two track to the and after a little bit of checking he admitted that it isn't working in the current version and we have to wait for an update.

I guess I'm not seeing this limitation. Perhaps I'm missing something... totally possible.

But here's a screen grab of how I'm splitting stereo into two mono's. I believe it works.

You are on Windows, it does not count :)

This method currently works on Mac in my experience, but you have to go back to the Media Pool and change the clip attributes there and then reimport the clip.

Sadly I cannot find a way to apply it to all the clips at once. Below are the directions from the manual as well.
