I know I'm not the only one with that thing...
After recently upgrading to 14.3, I was 1st very happy to feel the speed of the color tab and to discovers the Fairlight sound tab. Great. Then the thing goes to hell.
SYMPTOM: It stutters at 2-4 frames/sec and after a few seconds, it freezes. The audio of the video does the same except it don't freeze but stays in stutter mode.
Playing any kind of video file, mostly DNxHD 10 bits 1920x1080 without any color nodes apllied or color correction desactivated (whenever in the media, from source or inside the bin, or in the edit tab).
A music file plays OK. The same files plays fluently OUTSIDE Resolve 14. So it's unusable. Now I can use Resolve for color grading, frame by frame, and that's it. I remember when I read the "10 times faster", I was thinking "greeeaaaattt... mmm wait a minute, 10 times?" I was hoping for a little improvement, not that to be 24 time worst, because before I could plays all the same DNxHD files without problem.
What I tried:
Inside Resolve: activate proxy quarter, performance mode, media optimization, then all at the same time; change hardware preferences to OpenCL; new database, on a new location another disk (slower);
On the system: unsinstall the Visual C++ 2010 and 2013; unsintall Resolve, reinstall it; install latest Nvidia and CUDA drivers; tweak the Nvidia parameters (checked off all antilaliasing and stuff); desactivate the ASIO driver, run resolve with only stereo.
All that made nothing change, symptoms always the same. It's like if Resolve made his thing with lowest performance possible, without any regards of the hardware specs. Feel very low now, I waste a huge amount of time on this.
And the funny one: i tried to restore my system to the 10 days ago state (my backup just before upgrading Resolve) and tadaaaaa, the restore don't work well and I can't go back to Resolve 12.5. I'm stuck with the frozen playback editor, Jeeze... And if I install the 12.5, I'm sure the database will not work right? So maybe I lost month of work because of this?
I get my Resolve with the BMCC I bought but today I would be happy to pay 299$ if it's to get something working.
