Well, just saying "use Windows 10" on a forum reply is not a real solution.
- The Resolve 15 web page makes no mention of any Windows version requirement. It says it is supported on all major platforms. So I pointlessly downloaded a 1GB install program.
- The Resolve 15 installation program happily ran on Windows 7 Enterprise x64.
- That installation broke what was previously a functioning Resolve 14.
- I had to go do a web search and get to a forum to see that apparently between 14 and 15 support for Windows 7/8 was dropped.
If Resolve 15 only runs on Windows 10, then:
- The web page should list this requirement, certainly somewhere in the process before downloading.
- That requirement should note if there are Windows 10 version restrictions - will it work on LTSB? Home?
- The install program should check the OS and not install on unsupported versions, leaving any previous version intact.
But of course ideally 15 should run on Windows 7/8 - I and several people I work with were looking to move to Resolve from Premiere, but switching all systems to Win10 brings a host of other compatibility and admin issues with it - most notably the constant risk of turning on your laptop to do a customer demo, only to be presented with an indeterminate wait while it finishes installing upgrades.
