Saving custom resolution on output?

PostFri Mar 02, 2018 7:40 pm

Hi guys,

I've been using Resolve for creating 1080p videos for my Youtube channel, and everything was fine then. However, now I've switched to a 1440p monitor, everytime I export at the same resolution I have to add it in as a custom resolution. For every video.

Maybe I've missed it but surely there's a way to save custom resolutions. I find it hard to believe that considering 1440p is such a popular resolution it's been missed out completely, but at least let me save my resolution so I don't have to manually add it for every video. It saves every other setting I use.

So yeah, if anyone knows how to save custom resolutions that would be a great help, and if it's not possible it's something that I think should be in the next version of resolve (along with removing the spare screen on the edit page that a lot of people don't use - you can remove it on a 1080p monitor but not 1440p or higher? Why take away the choice lol!).

Thanks in advance,

John

The menu for the Render Settings panel allows you to work with Presets.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Hi thanks for replying. Yeah I know there are presets but I have a custom preset I use but I can't save the resolution.

That's what I'd like to do.

The resolution is saved as part of the preset.

Okay, so my question is how do I save my resolution to my custom preset? That's the problem. Even if I change the resolution to 1440p, go to edit, remove the footage and import the new footage, the moment I go back to the deliver screen it's gone back to 1080p. It confuses me because there's preset resolutions for higher than my 1440p footage.

Found it on page 1235 on this one:

http://documents.blackmagicdesign.com/D ... Manual.pdf

It had to be manually saved in the preset menu. I didn't even know there was a preset menu so that's why when using the same project as a base for other projects it didn't work.

For anyone looking in the future change the output resolution (or anything about the preset that you want to change), then click the Render Settings Option menu (three dots in the same section) and click update preset.

Thanks Jeff that worked for me, wouldn't have been able to do it without you.

That's exactly what I said in my first response here.
