Unsure if its been mentioned but remember Centos Patch security support ends in 2024...2 years to migrate to another platform if you want security updates to continue.

I can remember a time when 512MB was a large hard drive :-)

Actually I can remember when Borland released a new C & C++ compiler suite than needed 50MB and the complaint from many was that they did not have a hard drive partition that could hold 50MB!!

I think the discussion got off-topic towards "Which Linux distribution is best for...", so a better place to ask might be https://softwarerecs.stackexchange.com/ for example; the help says:
"Software Recommendations Stack Exchange
What topics can I ask about here?

This site is for questions asking for recommendations of software ready-to-use to accomplish a particular task, that is, “what software can I use to do …?”."

Hi all, just chiming back in on this thread, does one need the advanced panel connected to utilise the linux resolve dongle and gain pro res support, we wish to have a portable system that doesn't have the panel being lugged around with us.

No, that is not dependent on having the Advanced Panels connected.

Many thanks Dwaine

Would you recommend Rocky Linux now over CentOS? Prefer to get it right first time on the install.
Thanks again

If you were going to use OUR ISO to install it, for sure use our Rocky Linux 8.6 ISO, since our old CentOS 7.3 ISO won't work with current NVIDIA GPUs.

If you are going to install it yourself, use whichever you prefer.

Thanks Dwaine the new Rocky installer is really nice!

So we are having problems getting Prores still (i.e no option) and I fear its an older dongle, it has advanced panel on it (the sticker that is) But now I hve read we need the orange coloured dongle with the Linux Resolve sticker on it?! Can you confirm this as I am still none the wiser.

For ProRes rendering on Linux Resolve Studio, you need a USB dongle with either a Resolve Linux or Resolve Advanced Panel label on it. Color is not an absolute indicator.

the one we are testing here from our client has the advanced panel sticker on it. prores is not visible at all, using latest resolve and the Rocky ISO from BM?!

Please send a Resolve diagnostics log. Use the Resolve Help menu: "Create Diagnostics Log on Desktop" to generate the log file.

Provide a link to the log here.

Just to confirm, I'm running our Rocky 8.6 ISO install here, and a Linux/Advanced Panel dongle definitely enables ProRes render support. There is no issue with this in regards to our Rocky 8.6 ISO.

So definitely not an Advanced Panel/Linux dongle in use in that log. Which is why no ProRes.

I'm using the dongle that came with the advanced panel that I bought new from you guys...It has a circular sticker on it...that's the indication correct?

Update for anyone reading this...Resolve used to come with 2 dongles...I didn't remember this as it's been nearly 10 years, but I dug through my closet and found a brand new Linux dongle that's working perfectly...Thanks Dwaine
