Problems mapping Softkeys on Artist Color with Resolve

PostSat Mar 24, 2018 1:45 pm

Hi,

Sorry to bother you about that, but I’m currently encoutering problems trying to map softkeys in EuControl for my Artist Color v2 with Resolve.

I’m currently running EuCon 3.7 with Resolve 14, on a MacPro 5.1 with El Capitan last update. Artist Color uses a static Ip as suggested by Avid Support and many users.

The panel in itself works perfectly rigth. Default Softkeys also work.

The problem appears when I try to change some of then (as many, I would like to add a « switch from primary to log » on one of them).

I can’t figure why, but it doesn’t work.
I followed the instructions of Dermot Shane on this thread

viewtopic.php?f=21&t=42785

(with Resolve opens while I was mapping softkeys, am I wrong ?)

But it doesn’t work on any softkey.

I both uninstall/Reinstall Resolve and EuCon, but still nothing.

I then tried to modify some plist files, as mentionned here, but nothing

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=63939

Would some of you be kind enough to help me figure out what’s going wrong here ?

Thanks a lot for your help,

Best

Julien

Ps : It didn’t work either with Resolve lite 12.5, if this may help...

Hi Julien,

I'm running v14.3 now, no issues with my custom mapping, or changeing / revising the mapping... i swapped a few things around a month ago when i removed my XKeys from the desk, replaceing it with a StreamDeck, and moved a few things from XKeys to Color and moved a few things from Color to the SteamDeck

i can send you my mapping on Monday, hopefully that should load and work cleanly, if so, you could modify from there for your preferences...

My mapping refrences my custom kb shortcuts and some macro's, so may not get you all that far as it stands, but Sk2, just above the lift wheel does toggle between log and prim useing Resolve's standard kb shortcuts, the rest will likely need to be revised tho..

Hi

Thanks a lot for your reply and for your help !

I really appreciate that !

So yes, if you don’t mind sending your own mapping,
I accept with pleasure.

And even if it doesn’t work as is, this may help me locale the real issue.

Once again thanks a lot,

Best

no sweat!

i had to zip it, as the board will not let me upload a .xml

so unzip, stop Resolve, backup the default, remove from the target folder, and place this one in either;
Mac:

/Library/Application Support/Euphonix/UserSets/MC2User/MC_USER_SET_Root

Windows:

C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Euphonix\UserSets\MC2User\MC_USER_SET__Root

open up resolve and it should be working cleanly.. i have it running on three machines, all windoze

one thought is that you have to delete the default mapping for any given softkey before adding a new mapping, otherwise the default will overwrite the custom as soon as you exit EuControl.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for this !

I’m gonna give it a try and let you know what happens.

One interesting point already is that I don’t have this target folder in my application support...
Which might point out some kind of problem with my EuCon install...

Once again thanks a lot for your help

Hi

So i tryed to install your mapping after a clean reinstall and a few reboot,
And unfortunately it doesn’t work.

But there is definitely something strange with my EuCon install :

As I mentionned previously, I don’t have any default user folder in my application support.
I had to manually create the folders you describe in your post. And my various attempts to clean/reinstall
EuCon didn’t change anything to that.

Do you think this may explain my problems when trying to map my softkeys ?

Thanks again for your help,

Best

Julien

Ps : another strange point : while my control surface is an artist v2, it appears as an MC Control in EuCon...

i'm useing an older EuControl, think it's around 2.7 or so, my understanding is that there's been nothing added since then that affects color or transport

maybe search your system drive for "MC_USER_SET__Root" it's probbaly somewhere, might be moved from the loaction i have it in older software

last thought is to do another clean un-install and load an older version?

mine shows up as "mc_color_DS1" as DS1 is the machine with the host software running, all other machines use client version of EuControl, i have four machines that i move the surfaces in between depending on what i'm doing on any given day, that feature is very handy

the only PITA is when i am working in Baselight's BLE, it needs the controler removed from direct control, and uses the surface's ip addy directly, unfortunatly Resolve will grab it faster than i can open Basellght.. so i have to shutdown Resolve running on any other machines before removeing color from EuControl... otherwise it's like playing wack-a-mole ;-)

The problem is, that the folder where your settings are stored, is by default write protected.
Enable it, and everything will work.
(I had the same problem)
/Library/Application Support/Euphonics/UserSets/MC2User/MC_USER_SET__Root
(EuControl 3.2.2)

that might be a Mac thing?

not seen that in my windoze installs, i'll keep that in mind as well, for the next time this pop's up ;-)

Hi,

a few words to thank you all for your help.

I eventually find an answer to my questions :

actually my keyboard shortcuts were not working because I use an AZERTY keyboard (I'm French)... And EuCon doesn't seem to like azerty mapping...

By chance I bought an Us keyboard for Resolve. And I just realised that mapping my soft keys with an Us mapping is working now !

For example, in order to switch from log to primary, I need to map alt+w for a French keyboard, cause z and w are switched compared with an Us keyboard !

If this can help anybody...

Thanks again for your help

Best
