Node cache On: how to preserve on copy

I need to set Node cache to On for the first node in hundreds of clips. Is there a way to make this easier than doing it manually with every single clip?

I can add a node to many clips at once, or I can copy/paste the node quickly into every clip, but found no way to have the Node Cache setting preserved. It always reverts to "Auto".

I also found no way to configure a keyboard shortcut to set the Node cache to On, which would still be faster than doing it with the mouse.

Does anyone have a trick to make that a bit easier/faster?

Why do you need it on, there could be a more clever workaround

Because it's a very processing-intensive node ("Neat Video", for cleaning up film scans and reducing grain), so I put it as the first node before starting CC.

Forcing the node cache to on was the "least unreliable" way I found to have this node permanently cached so that CC can be done without constant caching problems and losing real time playback.

Neat Video is an OFX: if you turn the [smart cache] on it will automatically cache that node.

(that is why I asked ;) )

Yes, it should. But in practice, it was very unreliable. Maybe that was with version 12.5 and I should retry it now with 14.3.

Too bad Resolve doesn't have any scripting API to be able to do stuff that keyboard shortcuts can't.

I used smart cache both in 12.5 and 14.x, it is very relatable for this sort on things

Yes, I agree with Albert: it would be nice to be able to manually Ripple a grade and force the Cache to turn on in a specific node.

i also lean on smart cacheing, the only thing a bit sub-optimal that i see is it's pretty aggressive in what it choses to cache, often cacheing nodes that already play RT without a cache.

as long as disk space is not an issue (and it's not for me) i'd leave it on 24/7, does not hurt anything to have it on, other than useing disk space

Hi everyone,

Just found this post because I use Neat Video the same way as the OP and as years go by I never could figure a way to preserve the first node cache (where my NR lives on) when I load a grade from Gallery or a Memory. Even if I set my Gallery album to "preserve 1st node", as I load it the cache is gone.

Is there a way to do it?

Thanks!

+1

Also, if you swap two nodes and one had cache on, that is nor retained in the swap (it should swap with the node, instead it stick to the current one)

It would be easier to create a custom shortcut with automation software such as Keyboard Maestro if Node Cache Auto / On / Off was included within the Color menu. For now the only solution I can currently see is using mouse coordinates and activating clicks... but that only works if you have a fixed node structure & you somehow don't move the nodes around due to window resizing / layout configuration adjustments, which is unlikely.

I haven't been deep in resolve until the last six months or so but a node cache shortcut seems to have been a perennial request for some time.
