The specified account already exists

Tried the usual clean install /run as administrator after uninstalling 14.3 /cleaning registry etc, but 15 refuses to install saying 'The specified account already exists'. After a bit of head scratching, I logged out & back in again via an administrator account. This time 15 installed. Re-booted into my user account and all seems to work.

Still, haven't seen this particular issue before.

I just got the same error when trying to upgrade from 15 beta 2 to 15 beta 3.

I've just recently cloned my drive to switch my OS (and Davinchi) to an M.2 solid state drive, so I was thinking it had something to do with that.

I'm also not able to uninstall 15 beta 2 and that gives me the same error.

I tried reinstalling the PostgreSQL 9.5 to see if there is some kind of user permission issue, but that did not seem to help.

I'm already the admin on the machine, so maybe I can create a new admin account to try the install with a different ID.

EDIT: What fixed it for me:

I ran the Microsoft Install/uninstall troubleshooter and it removed the old Resolve install. Then I installed beta 3 and my projects open without issues.

Not sure if posting links work, but on Windows 10 I ran it from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... or-removed

It was on Microsoft support and titled: Fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed

Thanks, yes: what did it for me was a fresh roll back of the Windows image (via Acronis True Image) and also holding updates at 1790. No admin issues anymore and overall more positive, quicker performance.
