ProTools export now works perfectly and includes handles on audio media when set in the delivery page options.

What exactly do you mean by that? What is the format you'd like Resolve 15 export?

FWIW: I use the following Resolve export process with ProTools Ultimate (sometimes), but mostly with my main squeeze, Nuendo (or any DAW for that matter). The reason in the past for this coming about was that indeed, ProTools AAF export was problematic. As follows:
    In the Deliver page, export a video file of your size and format of choice;
Under Audio, select multiple audio track outputs according to 'TimeLine Track', ie add a new one for every audio track. I usually set these to Linear PCM /24 bit.
Export the whole thing as a multitrack video file and import into DAW of choice, eg, ProTools and Neundo import both the video and multitrack audio files and video file quickly and perfectly.
Strip silence if you wish, then process, overdub, mix and bounce to an LUFS ref of choice.
Drop back into Resolve and done for final render.
Having said all that, DR15 is increasingly beginning to look like round-tripping won't be needed quite as much, unless composing and recording original music.

Yeah, there's a fabulous new option called Fairlight. wink wink

You could also try the AAF file in Logic Pro or Reaper or other DAW and report back on these forums to assist others.

While exciting, it's not quite ready for prime time yet.

Logic is MAC only; I'm on PC so I have no idea about it. But neither SONAR nor Mixbus handle AAF files natively. Of that I am certain and I find no reference to such in the documentation for REAPER, although someone somewhere may have written a script to do that. (I have all three. )

My understanding is that AAF files can be problematic. Not as bad as OMF, though (which SONAR DOES handle natively).

I think it would be better to export audio stems instead.

This is possible now by doing an audio output with correct audio mapping on the Deliver Page.

AAF in general? Or from Resolve?

Certainly AAF Avid->ProTools has been solid, as evidenced by the millions of turnovers done this way all over the world.

AAF Adobe->ProTools has some gotchas but also works.

Resolve will get there too (seems like they may already be).

Other DAWs vary in their ability to import AAF because turnovers to them are far far fewer - thus demand for implementation is lower. Chicken/egg situation too.

OMF is considerably older tech.

Stems have no handles or metadata from source clips, effects & levels either have to be removed and recreated from scratch or are burnt in. Can be useful for quick & dirty work but, for a proper mix of any kind, your mixer would really want an AAF/OMF.

Haha - I'm the guy who wrote the AAF importer for Mixbus (though you're right of course - it's written as a plugin, rather than a native feature). The reason it needs to be a plugin is because of some licensing conflict between the Mixbus license and the AAF license. Maybe it's the same problem for Sonar?

Anyway... if Blackmagic needs any help with AAF or OMF I'd be happy to talk to someone there.
