Text Templates | Fusion Titles

PostThu Apr 12, 2018 8:44 pm

So I found an interesting video where someone shows how to use their text templates in Resolve Fusion. They have a few templates, and I'll link to them below. The thing is that they don't work without using a Delay from the Time Speed tool. This is because the clip has in points that don't start at 0 whereas the animation does start at frame 0.

There are a few things here that I want to figure out after viewing this:
1) Is there a way to create Text/Motion Graphic Templates that don't require us to retime them using a delay?
2) Is there a way to create a Text/Motion Graphic Template that can be used on the edit page so that it functions the same as one of the ones provided by Blackmagic Design listed as Fusion Titles.
3) Can we expand the Fusion Titles in the Fusion Page to see the Node Structure so we can replicate out own Titles based on those design examples?
4) Can we have a way to preview the Fusion Titles? I hate having to drag and drop one in to see if it's one that I want to use. I'd love to have a preview of it so I know what it is before I choose to drag it into the timeline.

Really liking all this so far. Still have to retrain my brain away from After Effects. But getting there slowly.

1) Yes, the text templates are just macros/groups of nodes like a normal fusion comp/marco. only difference: the location where they are stored
go to your resolve install directory, browse to resolve15->fusion->templates->edit->titles

2) yes, save the .settings file of your macro/group to the location of the templates.

3) yes, open the templates from the loaction above in a text editor. change "MacroOperator" into "GroupOperator". select all, copy and paste into the fusion node graph.

Cool! I will try some of these out.

Definitely want the Fusion Text Preview to become a feature. This would be very helpful.
